Does the comb work well at detangling hair? It looks like the teeth of the comb are too thick to actually do a good job for people with long hair.

My hair is shoulder-length and this comb works very well. My hair tangles frequently and the comb smooths my hair every time.

how do you wash this brush?

Hi Marilyn, Here is a simple cleaning process you can easily use: 1. Start by using your wooden comb by Belula to 'comb out' any hair stuck in the brush. 2. Pour 2-3 drops of essential oil in a bowl of water(room temperature). Don't overfill it. The level of the water shouldn't be higher than the height of the bristles. The wood should not get wet. The essential oil is antibacterial - you can use ageratum, citronella, eucalyptus, geranium, lemongrass, orange, palmarosa, patchouli, or peppermint essential oil. ) 3. Place the brush in the bowl, bristles facing down, such that only the bristles get damped, but not the wood. It helps to move the brush around in the water to get the essential oil mixed and running through the bristles. Do this for 1 minute. 4. Repeat the above process, but this time using just water with no oil - to rinse the brush. 5. Shake off any last excess bristles with your hand if necessary. 6. Take the brush out and dry it. You can use towels, let it just hang in the sun or use the hairdryer. You can use this 6 step cleaning process every once in a while, in order to get your brush clean and clear any bacterias. Seller: what kind of cotton fabric is the headband made of? ie fleece, velour, etc? thanks. please no buyer answers if you dont know!!

I have one. It is velour, seems to be a cotton velour but nothing on its package says for sure. It has a velcro fastener. Comfortable and works pretty well.

Can I use a tiny amount of oil in my hair without causing damage to the brush?

Yes. I add oil to my hair, and the brush is fine.
