Makes excellent waffles and pancakes, bit pricey
Update: I found this waffle mix in large foil envelopes on Amazon. They are much more reasonably priced, and frankly, it's easier to dig out the mix from a large envelope than the cans. And you don't have to worry about the can once it's empty. The foil envelopes are a much better deal. Whenever we travel, one of my criteria is the restaurant must have a complimentary breakfast and waffle maker. I enjoy making waffles when travelling. I've noticed on a regular basis that the machines have a sticker on them that say "Golden Malted" so I know the brand I like. The waffles are always crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and flavorful. Well, when I saw this can on Amazon, I immediately ordered it. I have a professional style waffle maker I bought from Amazon many years ago. So, I made two batches -- one for my wife who prefers pancakes, and one for me for waffles. I have to share some of my results: Double the recipe realistically for even two of you if you'd like a couple left over, or if you are cooking for a couple kids. Use two cups of mix, two eggs, and 1 and 1/4 cups fat free milk for both pancakes and waffles. If you use more than that you're going to have watery pancakes and waffles. Also, don't add the melted butter until you've mixed the milk and batter together or it will clump due to the cold milk. We use half cups of batter and they make nice sized smaller pancakes or full waffles. Are they expensive? Yes, you could get a cheaper brand, but these really have that "golden malted" flavor you only find from this brand. Kind of makes me feel I'm on a weekend vacation. Highly recommended.

Sweet, delicious batter. Well worth the price!
I LOVE this mix!! We had them at the Mariott and I had to ask what brand they used because it was the first time Iโd ever had a Belgian waffle that I loved this much! Most batters are just fine, but Iโll usually eat a quarter or maybe a little more and that it. With these, the sweet flavor was absolutely delicious and I had a whole waffle each morning we stayed at the hotel. Now, Iโve got the batter for home. Yay!

Worth the $$
Perfect gift for a traveler who loves their hotel waffles, along with a waffle maker for Christmas!

Good taste.
Expensive but the grandkids say it tastes just like the ones at Disney. Worth seeing them enjoy them.

Damn good waffles!
This mix makes great tasting waffles. My only complaint is that it's expensive. The can says 1 cup of mix will make 3-4 waffles. We use a Waring Pro Waffle Maker and will get 3 waffles per cup of mix, which is good for the 3 of us. I double the ingredients so we have extra waffles for my son's breakfast before school. He likes them way better than frozen grocery store waffles. It's pretty easy, add egg, water and melted butter and you're good to go. I tried adding cinnamon, vanilla and a grated apple. Came out really good, you just have to cook it longer, maybe twice as long. Once I added blueberries. Oh man, they were great, but the blueberries were hard to clean out of the waffle maker! I tried this brand because a friend of mine considers himself a waffle aficionado, if there is such a thing :) It's the only brand he uses. While in Afghanistan in 2004, he emailed them asking if they could donate anything for a morale booster for the troops. They donated a pallet! They shipped it to our Air Force Base and it was brought over with the next rotation of troops. They were able to cook waffles for a couple hundred troops. Pretty nice of them. Since then I will pick up a can from time to time. We try, and like other brands as well, but Golden Malted seems to be a favorite in our household. Pro tip: When the price is high, buy direct for like $8 a bag. Save an empty can and empty the bag into the can.

Very good taste, very exorbitant price in single canister
This is an excellent specialty flour mix for pancakes and waffles. It is NOT a quick mix: you must still add egg(s) and oil or butter as well as liquid (milk for pancakes, water for waffles). The flour mix includes malt and cornmeal as well as leavening agents and other ingredients. The malt and cornmeal make for a surprisingly complex and pleasant taste. Some pros and cons: Pros: Excellent taste. Clear directions and straightforward preparation technique. The canister is well sealed with a pull-back foil sealer, and the plastic lid does a good job resealing it for storage. Cons: Buying one canister is REALLY expensive. You're paying much more than a dollar per waffle this way - how much per pancake depends on the size of the pancake. Just the mix is over a dollar per waffle and you still must add the egg and butter or oil. You will not save any prep time with this - it's basically a self-rising flour mixture, albeit an interestingly complex one. The directions for one batch of waffle batter (using one cup of the flour mix) say to expect 3-4 waffles from the batch but my 7 inch Belgian waffle maker only yielded two waffles from that amount of batter, so be prepared to get less than you expect from the recipe. Bottom line: as other reviewers have said, if you like this or want to try it because you like the taste of waffles you've had at a hotel that uses this, get the pouches and buy a $4 Rubbermaid canister at Walmart to keep the opened pouch in. And to save more money, just make your own waffle batter. You will spend the same amount of time and much less money.
