Purchased this for myself but it would make a great gift for the knitter or crocheter in your life. Lovely craftsmanship and an elegant way to hold the yarn I'm working with.

As others have stated in reviews for this item, it is very nice and I really appreciate the bag it comes in and the simple "thank you for you purchase" card inside. This is a gift for my wife so the dark red bag is a nice touch as a gift as well as for taking it portable.She often leaves her project just propped on a pillow in a chair and we sometimes knock the ball of yarn off and see it go trailing across the floor. Can't wait to see if this works out for her.The bowl itself is beautiful and having the name burned into the bottom of the bowl is a real elegant touch. No "Made in China" sticker on this beauty!!! I only deducted one star because there is an area inside the bowl that is irregular and rough. It's a natural piece of wood but I worry it might restrict the ability of the yarn ball to roll around freely inside as she pulls more yarn. After zooming in with my camera, I can see the roughness is a crack which is felt on both sides of the bowl. Imperfections definitely add character (it's always been my excuse!) and I think this will be fine. I slipped a ball of yarn in the bowl when she wasn't around and it feels fine.I can recommend this beautiful wooden yarn bowl to anyone looking for that special gift for their knitting or crocheting loved one.

A smooth, hefty bowl, perfect for a full size skein of worsted weight yarn with some wiggle room left over. The finish is a deep, rich color and finished with a wax/rub that had very little scent that quickly dissipated. The spiral has been sanded nicely so the yarn hasn't caught on any wood bits at all. There are no rough places inside or outside to the touch. It pulls yarn smoothly through the wooden circle. I don't have plans to use the two wee holes, so I haven't looked into their quality. The bottom is sturdy with a nice weight that the yarn cannot easily pull or move. Kitties lose some interest in the yarn because it isn't rolling off the couch and all over the floor.It arrived boxed in a sturdy cardboard container then inside a velveteen pouch that is big enough for the bowl, some yarn, some hooks and a small WIP. It isn't lined, but it does seem sturdy and held an additional 10 lb weight without protesting. More than that and I'd be concerned about the lame' type fabric at the top of the pouch.

I enjoy using this yarn bowl so much that I ordered a second one. The wood has a beautiful grain and is finished extremely well. The only problem I had was the yarn coming out of the guide regardless of how the ball was placed in the bowl. To solve this problem, I used a pop up mechanical pencil eraser, cut off the oddly shaped end leaving about an inch of the cylindrical eraser, colored it with a brown Sharpie and placed it at the bottom of the yarn guide curve. Problem solved, it looks great, and, if necessary, I can still remove the yarn from the bowl, while working on a project. I see from reviews that others have had a problem with the bowls having a bad smell. Mine were ordered at different times and they were both fine.

I am a life-long knitter and crocheter. I often saw pretty yarn bowls, but did not see that I would need one. I received this as a gift for my birthday. First of all, the rosewood bowl is beautiful. The wood actually feels great in your hands. The striations in the wood itself are lovely. Second of all, I am very much enjoying the actual function of the bowl. Its nice to keep my yarn corralled in a clean, contained vessel. I have asked for a second one for myself and have purchased them for 2 Christmas gifts. The bowl is in a beautiful red velvet bag with 2 lovely crochet hooks. All in all, a very nice gift!

I ordered this for my mom for Christmas. She is a knitting fanatic. I was a bit worried because many review said there was an odor to the bowl. However, I noticed no order when I opened it. It was very sturdy and had a nice weight to it, lovely color. Even a pretty red velvet bag that it comes with. She will love it. I got the smaller size and as you can see in the photo, It is definitely large enough.

What a lovely bowl! Smooth, color is rich, the packaging is quality. The red velvet bag and the bowl did not have any off smell as reported in other reviews. The bowl was wrapped in tissue, cradled in a really nicely made red velvet drawstring bag, inside a glossy white sturdy gift box. There was a card inside from the business - nice touch. From a knitters point of view, the bowl will hold a fat cake of yarn securely (I knit socks so not sure about other weights). The company's name is burned on the underside of the bowl. Very pleased with the bowl as well as the presentation. It feels like a true artisan craft item.

The rosewood bowl is absolutely beautiful! I had put off getting a bowl for my knitting because the ceramic bowls are so expensive. But I dropped my ball of yarn one too many times and decided to see if I could find a bowl crafted of wood. This bowl fit my requirement, so I ordered it and kept my fingers crossed. When it arrived, I couldn't have been more pleased. And to boot, they sent along a travel bag and a pair of crochet hooks! But the main thing is the bowl--a thing of beauty.
