How easy is it to put this machine together?

1 hour or less assembly instructions,
First make sure you have a drill hammer and wrench
In the drawer you’ll find all the necessary hardware,
14 bolts for the legs
2 small bolts for the pedal
Set of 2 long brackets for the 2 legs
Set of 2 small brackets for the bottom brace,
Set of 2 L brackets for the pedal,
4 pcs to adjust the legs 
4 long screws to attach legs to the table 
9 small screws to attach drawer to the table 
Start with your table top upside down on a flat sturdy surface with plenty of room to work around the stand Place your motor on the table, with the belt pulley centered in the opening so the belt will not rub against the table. Depending on your machine, the table may have come pre drilled for the motor. If it has simply line up the motor mount with the holes in the table. If your table was not pre drilled for the motor, simply mark the mounting holes and drill 3 mounting holes using a 3/8″ drill. Be sure to center your belt pulley with the cut out on the table before drilling the mounting holes.
Using the long bolts that came with your motor, tighten down the motor mount to the table.
Step 2 Attaching the On / Off Switch Box
If you have a servo motor this step may not be needed! The switch may be built into the front of the motor.
Measure over about 10-1/2″ from the front right of the table, and place the on/off switch box here and screw the box to the table.
Fasten the wire running from the switch box to the motor similar to what is shown in the picture.
Step 3 Leg Assembly
To assemble the legs for the stand, 
assemble each side of the legs from the top of the leg, to the bottom measures out to be around 29-1/4″ high. (7 lines from the top)
Once your finished assembling the stand, this will create a table that is around 31″ high. This height is what we assemble all our stands as a standard height.
Attach the cross (wider)brace to the back of the legs and the bottom (smaller ) brace to the legs.
Step 4 Attaching Legs to Table Top
Place the assembled legs on top of the table like shown.
Next fasten the legs to the table top with the legs centered front to back in the stand.
Attach the treadle (motor pedal) to the bottom cross brace as shown in the picture below, centered over the motor.
Attach the treadle rod from the treadle to the motors arm.
Some stands may or may not come with a plastic drawer to keep extra bobbins, needles, scissors or tools. Center the drawer on the longer side opposite of the motor, and use the included side mounting rails to attach the drawer to the table top.
Assemble the stand by using the coupling to join the two thread stand posts, add the thread stand arms, and attach the thread stand cone platforms to the arms.
Step 7 Placing Your Machine in the Stand.
Depending on your machine, you may have to add small rubber or felt cushions to the table using small finishing nails. The machines head hinges also need to be attached to the stand. Attach the machines metal head hinges to the back of the machine and place the belt around the machines belt. Place the machine in the cutout and tilt the machine back to get the belt around the motor pulley. To properly adjust the tension of the belt, there should be about an inch of space between the belt if pressed in on itself. If the belt is too tight, raise the height of the motor by adjusting the motor bracket, if the belt is too loose, lower the motor height.

Does this machine do well with delicate fabrics ?

Accepted Answer

It does fairly well. I’ve sewn silk and super lightweight poly with no real issues. I would suggest swapping the feed dogs to the nylon ones if you’re planning on sewing a lot of delicates. The factory ones will chew up fabric if you’re not careful.

Can this machine sew multiple layers of leather and can it be used for car upholestery ?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. This is the 8700H with a servo motor (servo allows for adjustable speeds). It has a stronger motor that is specifically designed to handle multiple layers of leather. The 8700 model is for lighter leather and does not have as strong of a motor as this 8700H has.

Which part of the actual sewing machine needs to be assembled?

1. The oil tank which goes in the table & the machine on it. 
2. Bobbin wheel- drill it on the table.
3. The thread holders
4. Servo motor, attach to back of the table.
