Does the back clean-out door stay closed on its own, it seems like it would swing open all the time?

I had mine attached to a tree. The clean out door stays firm until I remove it from the tree

What is the diameter of the hole?

The diameter is one and a half inches. I was so pleased to get birds nesting within 2 weeks.

has anyone actually had a bluebird use this box? Seems the hole is extremely low and won't allow enough room for nesting

The hole is 2.7 inches to the bottom, and the width of the bird house is 4.7 inches, there is enough space for the birds to build their nests

Mine is being hung in a pine tree near my home in the sequoia national forest, calif. how close can i provide food & suet?

Since birds are territorial you can’t put it too close, as they’ll attack other birds coming to the feeder. How close will depend on the species of bird that nests in the house.
