PortaPowUSB Power Blocker - Stops Charging, Allows Data (Single Pack)

TL;DR: It doesn't work with iPhones or apple trackpads. Or pretty much any other self-powered device I have laying around.So, I use an Apple Trackpad with desktop computers - a mac and a pc. If I leave it plugged in via usb, it automatically switches with my KVM. If I don't, I have to manually pair it over bluetooth.After 2 years of being plugged in 24/7, my apple trackpad's battery got bloated, so I'll sadly have to dispose of that one or at least take it apart to get the battery out. We'll see how that goes. In the meantime, I really missed having a trackpad, so I bought another.And I bought this, in hopes that I could use it over USB without charging it. It only needs to be charged once every few weeks, after all!Sadly, without the power source, the trackpad doesn't detect the USB connection. :(So I guess.. 5 star review? I'm sore it doesn't work for my use case, and to be honest, I'm not sure it actually works at all because of that hahaha. Nothing I plugged in detects USB. That's worrisome. Try it anyway? It's only $6.50 and it's a nice little dongle.

I wish DATA only cables were more readily available. But, alas, they are not. Sure...you could butcher your own cords and cut that power line, but that is a destructive solution. If you've ever controlled a 3D printer with a raspberry pi or other pocket PC, then you probably have learned that traditional USB cables can send enough voltage through the cord to cause issues with the printer, even with the jumper that is supposed to prevent that in place. I bought these to try and stop this compromising current, and, just to varify they work, I plugged a USB powered light into one, and...no power was going to the light. So, I used it with my printer, and it does the job I need very well, and very affordably. I love these. I will probably buy some just to have in stock for a tinkering project where I might need one.

I've been using this since 2022 and it's been working without issues preventing my 3d printer from back feeding power to my devices. Originally was using it to protect my raspberry pi, and now it's protecting my Sonic Pad.Highly recommend this product especially if you're connecting your 3d printer to a raspberry pi or sonic pad.

I was having the issue with my Ender 3 where when I connected my Pi the screen on my Ender would stay on. This fix it, and it's been working perfectly ever since. You could just get a non-charging USB cable that would work just as well, but I went this route and it works fine.I wish it was a little smaller.

I bought this for controlling my 3D printer with my Raspberry Pi 4. My Creality Ender 3 V2 was pulling power from both the Raspberry Pi as well as its own power and making a bad sounding whine. This let data through without power perfectly. Very glad this product exists.

NOT FOR APPLE CARPLAYBought it to be able to run apple play in my car without charging phone and it won't do that. It just fully disconnects the phone (data and power wise). I'm sure it works for it's niche purpose, but doesn't work for your car. I meant to return, but forgot until the window had passed.

Worked perfectly to stop a usb power backfeed issue from a connected powered hub to my raspberry pi 5. No tape or wire cutting needed.

If you have ever had an issue trying to use tape to cover power pins on a USB cable on your 3D printer trying to use OctoPrint or similar on a Raspberry Pi, you NEED this!
