So expensive but lovely taste should be more nutty
It looks and smells how freekeh should! It is very nice but being honest Syrian freekeh (Aleppo) was the best but unfortunately it is out of stock now. Also this one is so expensive for half a kilo you can buy one kilo from the Syrian one and it is more nutty and the flavour is amazing! But Yafa will be my go to if the Syrian freekeh is not back to the market. How I cook mine: I boil lamb neck or shoulder in my instant pot for 40 or 35 minutes depends how big bones ( meat on the bone) then clean the pot and put some ghee and sauté the freekeh then add the meat and it’s liquid to cover freekeh and don’t forget salt to adjust. On brown rice setting I leave it 30 minutes ( low pressure ) and you will have the best taste ever.

I had second thoughts on buying this as it seemed expensive but it was super DELICIOUS! A slight smokey taste to it. Lovely in my salmon salad. Plus the country of origin is Palestine (rather than their aggressive neighbour) which is an extra win. I couldn’t see cooking instructions so i made a guess at 50g freekah to 250g water… did have to keep an eye and add a little extra as it was simmering. I would recommend and definitely buy again!

Shame about the grit
Positive: healthy, versatile, has a great flavour, comes at a good price, and supports a good cause. Negative: way, way more grit in this product than other freekeh I have bought. It's a natural grain product so I expect the occasional small stone. Sadly, if not carefully sifted by hand this is literally gritty to eat; I have to take out a small collection of stones for every cup I cook :(
