Works great
This is a review for the 10Gtek Gigabit Ethernet media converter. Converts wired Ethernet to fibre and back. Works great and gives the full gigabit throughput over a 30m fibre cable.

A great alternative to cat6
Used these for a client who had ongoing persistent issues with getting decent internet connectivity in their garden room. They had tried dozens of options including WiFi extenders, power line converters and even a cat6 cable, but the distance was just that little bit too far. Used these with an optical cable and it has transformed the connection. Absolutely perfect. Will definitely use these in the future, as they just do exactly as designed with no drama.

nice bridge between network types
good bridge between fiber and electrical connections works as expected

Great Product
Great product - ran a fibre connection 30 meters - up one side of the building through the loft to the end. Now getting 1000Mb/s ethernet everywhere.

Does the job really well.
One of those items you never knew would be so useful! Once plugged in, it just works! No configuration required. I have used it to extend ethernet about 300m meters without issue. Another useful thing, is I use these to extend managed networks which have security embedded on - i.e. only allowing one MAC address per port. These converters don't add any MAC addresses or additional information to the network traffic, hence can't be seen by the managed network.

Very Happy!
I ordered 4 of these devices as I needed 2 fiber runs joining in the middle with a switch. I was trying to address a bandwidth issue with my existing powerline adapters trying to play Blueray movies from my NAS. All my issues were resolved, and from the furthest point, I am getting less than 0.5ms response to the router. Very much plug and play, highly recommended!

I had 125' LC to LC fiber laying around that I wanted to put between my cable modem and router. I purchased two of the 1.25Gb/s SFP Module to 10/100/1000Base-Tx, with a 1.25G 850nm 550M SFP media converters and plugged one in on each side and connected the fiber. I removed my 50' ethernet cable and plugged a 3' one directly between the cable modem and media converter. I did the exact same thing on the other side and everything came up immediately. Lost a total of 5 pings, and my routers IP address did not change. (the cable modem has no idea these are in-between). As far as a performance test goes, my average ping time to my cable modems default gateway may have went up by about .25ms average over 100 packets, but that could just be the neighborhood I am in. I am more than pleased with this simple solution to protecting my network from a lighning strike on the cable lines around my house. Also - I purchased a 3rd one as well as a 10Gtek for Cisco GLC-SX-MMD/GLC-SX-MM/SFP-GE-S, Gigabit SFP SX Transceiver to plug directly into my network switch. I just trenched a 6-10" trench to my shed and will be placing the media converter in there along with an access point which is about 80' from the house plus about 35' of internal cable. I have already tested the 3rd one along with the SFP module in my switch and they connected right up. As long as I dont have any issues running the fiber, this is another great use for these to protect my internal network from both near lighning strikes as well as static differential between the buildings. While I cant take advantage of POE (Power Over Ethernet) to power the aceess point, I think the isolation definatly outweighs the benefits of POE. So far I have less than 30 minutes with these in use (2018-10-21). If you dont see an update from me, they are still working.

I am using two of the media converters connected together with a short one meter fiber optic patch cable to provide Lightning isolation Protection to my local Intranet after sustaining several destructive Lightning events that came in over my under ground telephone/ DSL cable. The system is working well and I see no speed reduction. The 10Gtek converters are well made and impressive in their small size, zero configuration, and low cost. What more could I ask for. I would recommend them. Ken. KB6KKW

It does what it promises. I got about 930 Mbps through it, which is what I get over plain 1000BASE-T. I'm a big fan of the metal case. However, the price isn't the best. You can get one without an SFP transceiver and just buy your own transceiver off eBay. Cheap ones are plenty fast enough, and I found a 4Gbit one for less than $2 including shipping. The TP-Link alternative is about the same, metal case and all, but cheaper if you add your own transceiver.
