I welded this winch to a threaded steel coupler to use for my heavy-duty steel patio umbrella. It works perfectly for that application. The construction is solid, with a smooth-operating directional pawl and nice spool bearings. The parts have almost no free play at all and it holds tight when engaged. The hook works well and the cable is more than strong enough to handle heavier loads. I did have to rewind the cable on the spool to make sure it was tightly wound, to prevent binding, but other than that, it's flawless. It cranks up my patio umbrella and keeps it taught with ease. I'm looking forward to many years of reliable use with this item...

I used this to build a hoist to lift and remove my truck bed. It worked great for that application.

Works great for my wall mounted floor jack project! I replaced the cable with a strap and removed the handle to use an electric drill with a 3/4” deep socket to raise and lower it.

Nice winch at a cheap price

I was a little concerned that these were strap vs wire, because the picture on the box they arrived in shows a strap configuration. I was going to return them but decided to open first - they were wire and look to work for what I need.
