No more "oven" room
The adhesion is quite sticky once the protective film is removed. The sticky side goes on the window; instructions don't say that. I recommend using copious amounts of soapy water for the application as well. Don't wipe immediately all the water as the instructions imply. Wait about five or six hours and then go back over the film and smooth things out; works better that way. I used this on the three windows that get the most heat of the day. I noticed that it wasn't as toasty in that area around 7pm. It doesn't reduce the amount of light, but does provide enough to keep curtains opens. You can see out but nosey neighbors can't see in. I have weird shaped windows; original windows from the 60s on my home, so fitting the film to the windows took some creative thought. There was an overlap of film, so I used a straight edged razor to cut things down to make the film fit. Looks good; can't even tell there is a film on the windows from the outside. This is pretty easy to use; take your time.

IT WORKS! Second review..on Second order…
I am so VERY glad we bought this heat reflective film..We have a big window that faces full south so it really heats our house up in this VERY hot and dry drought we are having in Washington State..The film I bought was Mercury Blue..I got the 23.6x 6.5 ft size..It went on easily..The hardest part was getting the protective film off the window cling ..After struggling with the large window first.. I had enough left over to cover a small window in our porch that faces full EAST sun ..I figured out putting a piece of scotch tape on the corner of the protective film (not the one that goes on the window) and pulling it was sooo easy to separate the 2 films..I also used a spray bottle with just dish soap and water..I used a LOT of spray on the window and the cling..NOTE: Do not spray the window before you are ready to apply because the soap, especially on a hot sunny side window, will dry and leaves streaks and you just have to spray again.. Also, I had enough left over to do the small window in the porch.. I planned on that when I ordered..The only concern I had was I new it would be pieced together..I decided to overlap one window with the scraps..IT HELD GREAT!! You can see in the pictures I took..They are the last of windows.. If you look at the pictures and see the comparison to the opened window and the window with the heat reflective film on it..you can see how clear it is …a bit tinted but still great visibility.. I HIGHLY recommend this product.. I did a test for the temp with the window covered and the window not covered..There is a HUGE difference now with the heat stopped outside! Yaaaaay! I am planning on a long term solution to the ‘heat is here to stay’ situation our climate change has put us all in. Note: I cut my window cling as close to size before putting it on..That seemed easier..I did have an exact0 knife for trimming some areas but that was minimal..GOOD luck! SECOND REVIEW ON SECOND ORDER.. I still love this product…I used it on 2 West side facing bedroom windows..I had a very pretty prismatic window cling on those but they were not heat reflecting..I cut the heat reflecting film and applied like the first order..It went on without a problem..NOTE…You can see right through this reflective window cling..My husband went outside and I stayed inside for the test..Sooo, I really missed my prismatic cling.. I wondered if it would stick to the reflective cling..IT DOES!! Sooo pretty..The first 6 pictures are the dinning room window..I have a picture of flowers to divide the window pictures..The last pictures are the bedroom window with the heat reflective cling underneath the prismatic film.. LOVE it..

Great for Heat and Glare, But It’s Not a Mirror
Before writing this, I tested the film on three south-facing, single-pane windows installed in 1989 during a 97°F Texas afternoon with a UV index of 10. Each window had a different condition for comparison: Window A: Film applied, direct sunlight Window B: No film, direct sunlight Window C: No film, full shade Heat Performance Surface temperatures were recorded using an infrared thermometer at the same time on all three windows. Window A: 90°F Window B: 99°F Window C: 97°F The film reduced surface temperature by over 9 percent compared to untreated glass in direct sunlight. Window A even measured cooler than the shaded window, suggesting effective solar heat rejection beyond just blocking visible light. Light Control (Lux) Using a phone-based light sensor held flat against each window for 10 seconds: Window A: 2,000 to 2,378 lux Window B: 30,184 to 33,195 lux Window C: 2,110 to 2,223 lux Installation This is a static cling film, not adhesive. Water and a squeegee are all you need. Best results came when working in temperatures below 80°F or at night, since warmer conditions caused the water to evaporate too quickly. Cutting each panel slightly narrower than the window helped the film float during placement, making alignment and bubble removal much easier. Privacy & Appearance From the outside, the window takes on a faint blue tint. There is no actual mirror effect. Visibility into the home depends on angle and lighting, similar to how a phone privacy screen behaves. From inside, the view is slightly dimmer but remains clear, similar to factory car tint. --- Claim vs. Result The product advertises a mirror-like exterior during the day. In testing, there was no mirror effect, just a subtle tint. People outside can still see in unless conditions are just right, so the one-way privacy feature is limited. The film claims to block 50 percent of solar heat. Test results support this. The treated window’s surface temperature was over 9 percent lower than untreated glass and even lower than a shaded window. That is significant, especially considering the windows are 35 years old and offer little insulation on their own. Brightness was reduced by over 90 percent based on the lux readings. The level of glare dropped to what you would expect in full shade, which lines up with the product’s stated performance. UV protection was not measured directly, but the combined reduction in brightness and temperature, along with the film outperforming shade, strongly suggests it is filtering more than just visible light. It is very likely cutting UV and infrared as well, so the 99 percent UV block claim appears believable. --- Bottom Line: If you want heat reduction, glare control, and added comfort, this film performs. If you are expecting true mirrored daytime privacy, it will not deliver that. The heat and light filtering are real. The mirror effect is not.

Big waste of money
EDIT. After 30 minutes I was able to separate the pieces stuck to itself. This process required pulling it apart resulting in numerous wrinkles and stretching. It looks horrible--see video. They say soap to water ratio is 2 to 1. I used Dawn dish detergent. I tried 3 different spray bottles and all came out in streams. I changed to 1 to 1 ratio and was able to get a mist vs stream. I recommend apply as a mist. .................. Once you remove the clear film it is sticky. I was doing a sliding glass door so I had a long piece. When moving from my flat surface to the window it folded on itself and the whole piece was ruined. I cut a new piece. Need to be extra careful. Took 15 mins to separate the clear film from the window film. They only help you separate the clear from the film in one corner. You are on your own once you cut it. Using pieces of tape did not work. In the meantime my 2:1 soapy water has dried on the glass. They say the more soapy water the better so I take that advice and when I am trying to get on my ladder with the long piece it slips out of my soapy hand and folds over on itself and is ruined. I now do not have enough left to cover 1 of the two pieces of glass. I have enough left for 3/4 of the window. No matter how much you squeegee you cannot get all of air bubbles out. You will get creases that are permanent (meaning it is not an air bubble). If you are not an experienced window film installer, nor experienced working on a ladder or step stool, you will hate yourself for buying this product. Should we talk about the endless wiping of soap off your window?

Do it!
The pics for reference are SE facing windows in Alabama in June. One with lights on, one with lights off and one from outside in the middle of the day. Total privacy during the day without that annoying aluminum look- absolutely love it. Has drastically lessened the radiant heat as well as unwanted light in the bedroom. My cat loves it cause she can still look outside and I get the privacy and limited light that I want. These are combined with blackout curtains at night and it makes my room literally pitch black. It’s amazing. Annoying installation at first but once you get your rhythm down, it’s super easy. I did two windows like the one pictured in about 30 minutes- it would have been faster but I had to stop my kitten from stealing the plastic backing. If you like looking outside but don’t want to be blinded, would like your privacy and keep it a bit cooler- just buy these. I’m definitely getting more soon

Great for personal use, but I wouldn't use commercially
I've had experience with tinting film over the years. -1 star-This film was extremely hard to work with. I ordered enough to repeat application in case the first attempt went south. The biggest hurdle is keeping lint and debris off the inside of the window film as this tint generated an enormous amount of static electricity. -1star-Even using cotton gloves, wiping surface with Tac cloth and using de-ionized water (distilled) in the prep solution I was still not able to get a completely lint free application. It's fine for personal use, but I wouldn't use for a customer because it just creates so many lint & air bubbles. The only pluses were 1)- it was extremely durable. Make sure you go back after 4-5 hours and re squeegee all the bubbles out as it WILL bubble up on you. Do not let it set or the bubbles will be permanent. 2)-It does indeed cut down on UV and heat inside our home. Our July energy usage was down 20% from same time last year.

This is a very good investment.
This is absolutely a worthwhile investment. I have a window in a small landing at the top of my stairs that traps heat. It's the hottest place in the home as light hits that window all day. I have a bedroom there as well so that that window heats up the entire bedroom even when the door is closed. After researching alot of options I chose this to try. It was easy to put up. I will link as long as you have a good squeegee. From the moment I put it up, the amount of sun steeming in dropped and so did the heat. Some reviews said that condensation would form on the inside of the window causing the seal to fail. I did mot experience any condensation, most likely because the had failed along time ago. This worked like a charm and will be Installation tip - use an exacto or a box cutter ith a new blade as the film is durable but can tear if the balde is not sharp. Use a quality squeegee. I got the 5" green one by Brand OMNANGO. The edge is fine so I could get the film into small areas. If you can put protector on your cell phone, you can do this. I will be putting it on other key windows in the future.

Cuts down the heat in summer
Loved how this just dimmed the bright sun that was screaming through my laundry room door and making it so hot. Was very easy to use and just looks like it is part of the window.
