3600XB Review: Love it! - This is my first Roku product. I got frustrated with my Chromecast not casting desertcart prime, plus the quality looked bad on my TV. I bought the refurbished 3600 streaming stick because for one, as frustrated as I was with my Chromecast, it's all I ever knew of streaming devices. Second, I wanted to stay as close to my $35 Chromecast just Incase I wasn't happy with the Roku stick. The Roku stick arrived early, which was a bonus, and surprisingly more simple to set up than my Chromecast. I like the remote, actually...I LOVE the remote. It's nice to be able to use my phone, but for my 7 year old who is not allowed on our smartphones, finding TV shows with the Chromecast was difficult. (We only stream TV, we cut the cord over a year ago). My 7 year old easily can navigate through the home screen, and search using the remote. But she also found out (something she taught me and dad) she can cast her YouTube videos on the TV via the cast button as well. I also love the quality of video. My Chromecast claimwdbto cast at 1080p, but it was always bad, colors were off even, and with the fastest available cable internet available in my rural area (the middle speed out of 3 choices. It's 15,30, or 50mpg's or something, im not sure the lingo for speed) our Chromecast constantly buffered and crashed. A month before buying the Roku I lowered my internet connection to the slowest speed available because of money. The Roku stick, on with the lowest cable internet package available, and with 3 smartphones, a Dell desktop running Windows 10, and a nabi dream tab ALL connected to my wifi, streams beautiful picture quality with no buffering. My TV is worth watching again! I can access content not available on my Chromecast (desertcart prime for example) and again, i can't stress how much I love the home screen and remote. My husband is also very happy with the product, to the degree we will be buying another one cause our Chromecast is laying in a dresser drawer, and we move the roku stick from the living room to the bedroom TV. And in the end, my awesome refurbished streaming stick cost LESS than the Chromecast, and was shipped to my mailbox. After taxes, the 18mile drive one way to Walmart to buy the Chromecast, and 18miles back, the $5 dollars more for the refurbished stick was way less in the end. And I don't know if this is a good thing or not, haha, but we enjoy watching TV again! (Maybe too much since I'm getting less sleep catching up on shows on desertcart I haven't been able to watch!!!) Thanks for this wonderful product! Review: Better than I expected - I purchased two of these sticks and three Roku 4s. I am happy with both because the Roku interface just makes sense to me. I have a DirecTV Now subscription (and desertcart Prime) to go along with Roku, and I really like what that combination allows me to do. The one thing that is lacking for me is local TV (not Roku or DirecTV Now's fault, but I live in Juneau, Alaska, and no local stations are part of the subscriber package), but to get around that problem, I have purchased a MTWOTHAN TV Antenna Indoor HD Digital TV Antenna with 50 Miles Long Range Amplifier HDTV Signal Booster Upgraded Version-10ft Coax Cable(Black) and just need to utilize the Input switcher to get to local stations. I used to have a DirecTV cable subscription and with all the set tops for all of my TVs in the house, my monthly bill was $160 (sometimes up to $220 if I or my family purchased On-Demand movies). I have Ethernet throughout most of my house, so wanted the Roku 4s, but I also have a transportable TV station and a room where Ethernet is not available. I received all five devices at about the same time, thinking the Roku stick would be noticeably slower than my Roku 4s. Surprisingly the Roku sticks have streamed video as flawlessly as the Roku 4s attached to Ethernet. I’ve got an AC 1700 network so that may help, but I’ve taken my Roku sticks to a hotel and the video streaming paired with my iPhone which was attached to the hotel wireless network came in great too. BTW, Roku recognized I was off my home network and also recognized I was at a captive portal network and popped up a prompt “I am at a hotel or college dorm” and walked me through the steps to create a video stream that was as easy as reading the screen. If you have a good wireless network and only a 1080P TV, this is a great streaming solution. It costs a tad less, as a refurb model than Chromecast and I feel it is easier to use.

Works as well as the larger models and is super portable
I bought this for a TV I mounted and I didn't want to have any DVD players, Sound Bars, Subwoofers, etc... hanging off of it. This was perfect. It works just as well as my other "full" Roku device. The WiFi setup was simple and I've not had any issues so far with the network lagging. The picture quality if super clear. The best part is it's powered off the USB port in my TV. In other words, the "stick" plugs into an HDMI port. Then, it's powered by a micro-USB to full-USB cable you use to connect the stick to any powered USB port on the TV. You may want to check before buying to ensure you have a powered USB port on your TV. If you don't, you still have the option to plug this in. As an unexpected bonus, when going on vacation, it's super easy to pull this thing out of the TV and take it with us. It actually worked quite well streaming video in a hotel room with a bit of engineering. It doesn't have the menus built-in to the Roku to attach to hotel wireless and get you past the hotel sign-up screen you get when you first connect. So I did that through my phone and then enabled the mobile hot-spot functionality on my phone. Then I connected the Roku to my phone's hotspot. It worked like a champ with only a tiny bit of lagging every once in a while.

Love this little plug in Roku stick. It has a very fast speed and no buffering. Thanks Roku you have outdone yourself at a very reasonable price.

Awesome little gizmo. Gives me a lot more selection than my Sony Smart TV. It loads super fast. There are even apps to pick up a few free local live TV stations so you can cut the cord. Plugs discretely into an HDMI outlet on the back of your TV. You can plug it into the wall for power, but I plugged it into another port for power. All wires hidden behind the TV. No clunky box sitting on my media center, super easy to use, Roku has the apps organized so they are super easy to find. Popular apps include Netflix, YouTube, Crackle, and all the usual, along with apps I have never seen before, but are very nice to have. Only one complaint. There is no Amazon Prime Video app. I had to mirror my phone to watch Amazon Prime on the TV. Very disappointed as the picture lags here and there when using mirroring to stream. This is why I removed one stat. If they add the Prime Video app, I will add a star.
