A comprehensive teachers' manual which provides a complete artistic curriculum suitable for Steiner-Waldorf Classes 1 to 8 (age 6 to 14). Painting and drawing are key artistic expressions which play an important role in children's physical, emotional and spiritual development. This comprehensive teachers' manual provides a complete artistic curriculum for Classes One to Eight in Steiner-Waldorf schools (age six to fourteen). At each stage, the book demonstrates the skills that teachers can help children to develop. There are 280 practical exercises for teachers to use, and over 800 drawings and paintings as inspiring examples of artistic possibilities. The curriculum moves from free drawing, to guided color exercises, to precise perspective drawing. The exercises draw on elements of the Steiner-Waldorf curriculum at appropriate ages, incorporating themes from fables and legends, the Old Testament, Norse mythology, animals, Ancient Greece and botany. Throughout, the author draws on art theory and shows that art is truly a universal language. The book is also suitable for adult self-study. Review: Such a beautiful book - It was more than what I expected. So beautiful and helpful for beginning. I’m using this to guide and teach our watercolor lessons Review: My favorite art book! - Wonderful book! Useful for adult painting, art history, and teaching! Full of great ideas and examples.

This book is the absolute best, for doing exactly what the title says
This book is the absolute best, for doing exactly what the title says. I have used it very effectively to inspire ideas and also copied some of the paintings in here for use in my classroom. The context it particularly great, and there is plenty of history and "why," to back up all the artistic ideas and lessons for painting and drawing. I think it deserves 6 stars!

I like this book to help jump start or homeschool year ...
Maybe I'm missing something. I like this book to help jump start or homeschool year with lessons on blending colors and adapting thoughts into pictures. But where are these stories they reference to? I know there are stories to be read while the kids paint to give them context and help brighten their imagination but I have no clue where to find them or even what I'm really looking for. We aren't in connection with a Montessori or Waldorf School, I just like to add these elements into our day as I can so bold like this are my bread and butter. I just with I knew of the companion with the stories that I could buy. I feel like for the price they should be in the book.

A serious art book!
This is an in-depth book! Nearly 400 pages and tons of photos of art. I expected an elementary age book of lesson plans with stories and examples. It covers kindergarten through middle school in my opinion. It covers Greek mythology, Norse mythology, and the Old Testament.

Must have for any Waldorf class teacher or homeschooler.
I pre-ordered this book from Amazon several months ago and my copy just arrived. This beautiful book is nearly 400 pages long and jam packed with gorgeous color photographs. It is conveniently organized by grade with drawing and painting examples and detailed instructions for every project. It goes beyond crayon drawing and wet-on-wet watercolor and includes form drawing, charcoal and pastel drawing in the upper grades, and even paper cuts. This is hands down the best book I've ever seen on the topic. I see that Amazon pairs this book with Color Dynamics by Angela Lord; I own that books as well and I highly recommend it. If you can afford to buy both books, do so. If you can only afford one, make it Painting and Drawing in Waldorf Schools: Classes 1 to 8 by Thomas Wildgruber.

Too abstract.
The book is beautiful, nicely illustrated with many valuable instructions for the art teacher. However, as a practical guide for my specific needs, raising up illustrators and graphic artists who can actually draw, and survive in the highly competitive art world today, it lacked nut and bolt practicality. I would highly recommend this to the teacher who is guiding the fine artist. It's a full source for a fine art syllabus.

Waldorf Art Exucation
I’m happy to finally have this book: a Waldorf textbook approach to teaching art. I’m inspired by the outcome of scaffolded lessons from age to age. I’ve taught art for decades and so many people have said to me that all they can draw are stick figures. I want to use Waldorf Art education to help children feel self confident in art skills development.

Exploring the magic of Watercolour
This book commences with a useful introduction and is then followed by a course of assignments to cover the duration of 8yrs. I bought it both for myself and my 5yr old daughter. We have started doing this together from lesson 1 and so far we are experiencing the wonder of colour, and the nature of water in painting. Its exciting in its freedom and promising in what it aims to teach in later lessons. Speaks to the soul on levels that the conscious mind could not go.
