What's to say - it's a splint
Did not unroll, so this review is just from looking at it. Seems like quality. Weighs about as much as the "name brand"

good generic emergency splint
I've carried one of these in my Scouting backpack for years. My strong recommendation is to unroll it flat, fold it to whatever length fits best, mold it to match to the curve of your spine, then stuff it down the back pocket as a comfortable stiffener to your pack. It weighs practically nothing, helps support the internal frame and is easily accessible if you ever have an emergency. It can be molded into several different configurations to splint a leg, an arm, even a temporary cervical collar if you know how. These generics get top ratings for value and function. I miss having the instructions printed on the foam, though (something I've only seen on the official SAM splints). Blank is fine for me because I've used them for years. They are a little less helpful for my Scouts who will have to use it when I'm the one with the broken leg.

Works great!
I have trigger finger in my ring finger and pinky. This stabilizes them perfectly!

Five Stars
Emergency Preparedness item. I don't want to be caught unprepared. Little did I think I would have my husband use it on me. Last Wednesday evening, I fell and I could hear and feel my bone in my leg crack. I was on the floor and we were trying to figure out how to splint the bone before moving me. I remembered having these splints. My husband cut a piece for the top and bottom of my lower leg and secured it with curlex. I was then lifted to bed and we had a wheel chair for when my mom was sick, so I was then wheeled to our car and taken to ER. After x-rays I had broken my fibula in two places and chipped my tibia. If I had not splinted the leg I was told the fracture would have not been stable and I would have ended up needing surgery. I saved myself a huge operation, pins and plates all because I had this splint. I ordered a bunch more as soon as I felt well enough.

Three brands of "SAMS" compared
I just bought three different SAM-type splints on Amazon and they seem comparable:(a) SAM brand, $13.49, Made in USA(b) Everready 4.25 X 36 Inch Padded Aluminum Splint, $6.16, Made in China(c) Dixie 4.25 X 36 Inch Padded Aluminum Splint, $5.87, Made in ChinaAs far as stiffness goes, they are all about as stiff and to me, the SAM seems to be the limpest of them all. They weigh different amounts, could be foam weight, could be aluminum weight, could be both. In same order as above, weights are:(a) 123g(b) 149g(c) 140gThe only big difference I see, besides instructions printed on the splint, is smell.(a) No smell(b) Slight petrochem smell(c) Slight petrochem smell.B and c come folded. I smoothed them out and rolled them just like the SAM brand. The fact that they were folded did not seem to affect my ability to roll them or form splints into desired shapes.

Be Prepared For The Worst - Highly Reocmmended
This "Ever Ready First Aid Universal Aluminum Splint, 36 Inch Rolled" came highly recommended from an instructor at a class I took on emergency first aid. We teach firearms safety and offer "live fire" instruction at a range that is fairly remotely located so I realized that it would be prudent to get some medical training keep a well stocked "blow out" kit on hand.We ordered two of these and they came rolled, as pictured. We added wide Velcro tent roll strips to our kit to hold these in place on a limb, also as recommended by our instructor. Having this offers some peace of mind that we would have have a chance to stabilize someone that has been injured and buy some time for EMTs to arrive on site.Highly Recommended!CFH
