A revolutionary new understanding of the human brain and its changeable nature. The brain is a dynamic, electric, living forest. It is not rigidly fixed but instead constantly modifies its patterns - adjusting to remember, adapting to new conditions, building expertise. Your neural networks are not hardwired but livewired, reconfiguring their circuitry every moment of your life. Covering decades of research - from synaesthesia to dreaming to the creation of new senses - and groundbreaking discoveries from Eagleman's own laboratory, Livewired surfs the leading edge of science to explore the most advanced technology ever discovered. Review: Lively book. - Excellent book. Gives good idea adopt plasticity of brain. With excellent examples the book makes the intricacies of brain function understandable. Review: Lively - I've read a few books on neuroscience and this would rate as the most lucid and engaging book. As an engineer I am intrigued by his suggestion to use "livewiring" as an approach to design of machines. This requires a dramatic change in the way we engineers think and need to rewire our brains to wrap around such ideas. I really liked the homonculus cartoon image showing large hands feet and stunted legs and arms :-) I am now moving on to his Incognito and hope to have a similar experience of reading.

Awesome
Well written and this book really changed my perspective towards the brain function and neurology. My favourite line will be ‘geniuses are made not born’ .😬✌🏻

Thought-provoking read!
If you’re interested in reading in depth about the brain, this one is definitely for you. David Eagleman has done a great job in explaining how extraordinary our brain truly is. The brain is a highly active and malleable learning machine. Knowing that, we can develop strategies to improve well-being, like engaging in activities that are new and challenging. A very insightful read that will make the reader think about all the new possibilities that lies ahead in the future as we learn more & more about our brain and how we experience the various sensations around us.

A and easy and exciting read
It's amazing how a scientist can write so well. It read as smoothly as a novel to me and the topic is so exciting. It discusses how different senses and body parts can be connected to the brain and the live wired structure of the brain figures it out. It's futuristic with some predictions made and highly recommended for almost all age groups (teenagers and older IMO).

Understanding better how we are and how we work
This is a nicely written essay on the working of the brain and how it adapts to environment and experience (which helps sustaining a less deterministic view of genetics)
