DK Eyewitness Books: Viking: Discover the Story of the Vikings―Their Ships, Weapons, Legends, and Saga of War

Short book, quick read. Profusely illustrated and well researched. Comes with a poster and clip art CD. What I liked most was the comprehensive coverage of where the Norse lived, their roles in society, their diets, their daily life. It is a book that thankfully dispels myths of Norse people as savages. Infact, culturally, they were ahead of their time in metal working, commerce, navigation and ship design. They made goods and did a lot of trading, and sailed far and often resettled because of the need to feed people.

Nice short reader, lavishly illustrated with photos of artifacts and relics. A good highly visual suplement to any study on the topic. Great for all readers, from children to adult experts even, who will enjoy the illustrations and photos of actual artifacts, lacking in the more scholarly texts.

We used this for our waldorf homeschool block on Vikings and it was the perfect book to use for a 6 week course that way we could deep dive into each little section.

I purchased this book to share with my younger cousins. This is a very comprehensive book about their Viking heritage.

The Eyewitness Books series is a staple of the classroom library, with books that invite browsing as well as providing source material for research. The Viking book is a good addition to an existing collection; however, I found this particular volume to be better for browsing than for actual research.

Greag book, lots of information and of course wonderful color pictures that DK never disappoints with. Bought the book for a 6 and 9 year old.

Bought these two books for grandson, that reads everything Viking. The text and pictures are vivid and keep him coming back again and again. Must have!

During a conversation with a local neighbor, the young lad told me of his exposure to the Vikings in his school class. 'Eric Blood Axe', was exuberant in these new studies and I thought this book would be a good addition to expand his knowledge and interest. I know that I was at his age!

these books. and ive bought quite a few. are very well illustrated, informative, and easy to navigate for younger kin, for school projects, and just general reading. thumbs up

This is an amazing book, and you will definitely learn a lot about many important history facts. Received new book in great condition and awesome packaging.

This book is very informative and has excellent photography. Good for learners about 8 years to teens but engaging for adults as well.
