So how do you close the door with the plugs in?????

This cover is not designed to be an in-use cover. I use this cover for exterior light and fan switches. If you are wanting to plug a cord in and close the door, you'll need to go with a deeper model that has openings in the cover to accommodate a cord.

Can you use both outlets and close the cover?

No-you can’t use either outlet and close the lid completely. When using the outlets the cover is slightly ajar.

Do I need anything else to install this like the metal box that mount on house or does this need that?

Thanks for your question. This cover mounts to a metal outlet box to create a weatherproof seal. We sell a compatible box here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0756M5NP3 Best, Jennifer American Synergy
