Being a revenue manager in the hotel industry requires mastering complex systems, keeping abreast of evolving technologies and adapting to continuous change. To be successful, the best revenue managers repeatedly ask difficult questions, seeking answers that will safeguard the financial health of their hotels and ensure their rooms are not only booked, but optimized. But what may surprise you is that answers to these questions are more than attainable—they also illuminate a set of simple rules that every revenue manager can follow. In this book, Johan Hammer invites you behind the hotel reception desk, where he’ll explain the timeless principles he puts to practical use everyday in his position as a Revenue & Distribution Specialist. With over 10,000 hours of hospitality experience, he has not only asked the same questions you have countless times, but has answered them enough to write rules that prove successful and are so simple that even the newest revenue managers can follow them to become a Revenue Superstar. Review: Powerful Book - I have bought this book and it is really powerful for the revenue management and/or for a person who want to be a future Revenue Manager or Director of Revenue. Inside the book you will find how to set pricing, analyse trend, pace, how to improve online content, tricks to generate more businesses during low periods and many more. I highly recommend this book to everyone who work in hotel industry. Review: Felt more like the Cliff's Notes - I really hoped for more from this book. While it did help me to refocus and remind me of things that i may have let go by the wayside, I feel like it is lacking in details. I actually had to check and make sure that I got the whole book and not a sample. Lots of short paragraphs that give the basic idea, but never go enough in depth for one to leave this book and go make big actionable sales efforts. I find myself doing more research now. For example: The author will say something like, There are lots of opaque channels out there where you can discounts your rooms without the price being public so as not to start a price war. Fantastic, how about telling us some. Even just a list would be fine. Something to get us started. While he does mention a few tools and other reference books by name, for the most part the usual suspects only get mentioned, Expedia and Booking.com. We all know about them, introduce us to some more that maybe we are missing.

Solid Info in Simple, Actionable, Format
I really enjoyed reading Johan's book, and will be keeping it close by my side as I jump into my first hotel venture. The book layout is similar to a Tim Ferris book. No fluff, detailed suggestions/websites, quick and easy to read but also tons of knowledge.

Total waste of money :(
This book is a huge frustration. Yes author mentioned this is for beginners. But this book is not even for beginners. It tells nothing, its not a book its like just a facebook post. I am so sorry to buy it for 12$ and i think its total waste of money. I appriciate author's efforts to write a book but he must have worked it on much much more before publish it. If you want to learn something about revenue management just google it and you will learn much more things than this book.

Nice introductory overview of hotel revenue management
Short, readable in one sitting. Nice introductory overview of hotel revenue management. Not going to make you feel like a revenue super star though. Does not get into any specifics on more recent developments in the convergence of revenue management with digital marketing and data science. The more sophisticated modern data analysis techniques that are advancing in this space are not discussed in detail.

Bon. Utile. Accessible
Très claire, utile et plein de bonnes idées. Seul bémol : peut technique. Si vous avez une formation spécialisée quelque peut scientifique, préférer Cornell ou autre littérature plus spécifique.

Waste of time and money. I could have read google and it would have been more informative. Very basic book for true beginners to hospitality.

Practical and quick introduction to Hotel Revenue Management
I have read both this book and Johan Hammer’s second book [[ASIN: B073HM5SY5 Revenue Playbook: Applying the Simple Rules of Hotel Revenue Management]]. If you only can read one book then I recommend this one, but as both are so short to read, there is value in reading both of them. Revenue Superstar is structured as a series of short chapters, each one based around a question someone might have about hotel revenue management, such as "How can I increase my daily rates?" or "What is the best way to make a room revenue forecast?". The book is very concise and clear and takes about 80-90 minutes to read. This format works best if you already have some familiarity or practical experience with hotel booking operations. If you don’t there is a comprehensive glossary at the back to help you with the terms. Through the questions posed you learn about the main issues facing a revenue manager and how to go about tackling them. The book starts by focusing on what a revenue manager’s day looks like and introduces the key concepts, then expands out the time horizon to show the bigger issues and ends up discussing technology and channel management. By the end of the book you will have a practical framework with lots of actionable ideas to use.
