Works well indoors & out -- much better on smarter dogs & watch your range
So I put this in a window and aimed it at the neighbor's dog. The window had a screen, so I could literally put it between the screen on the outside and the window. Within about two weeks the dog stopped barking when it was on our side of the house, however, it did bark some when it was on the other side of the neighbor's house (out of range). So it definitely did help a bit. It worked some on the yappy annoying older dog on the other side, but not well on their young and highly stupid dog. Then again, their electric fence didn't work on that dog either. Nothing seemed to work on that tiny yappy thing (that neighbor had even tried a handheld sonic corrector of another maker and didn't work -- that yappy thing just responded to NOTHING). At our new house, neither neighbor has a dog. Which is great. My dogs don't bark outdoors, so I haven't needed it outdoors. Inside the house, we have it set to audible for humans (so that we know when it goes off) and within 24 hours it had reduced our older dog's interest in barking at every car that went by. It is vibration sensitive -- so we had to put some vibration reducer under it so it would stop going off if the garage door was shut too hard. A week later and she has gone from barking at almost every car to very rarely barking. Never tried it with a battery, have always used it plugged in. So I can't comment on that. But definitely glad I bought it and it's been very useful. Also, HUGE difference is changing our doorbell. Dogs used to go off like nuts at the doorbell (whether our house or doorbell on TV). We changed to a musical doorbell with 3 receivers around the house to play music and a couple months later and there is no barking at TV doorbells and they don't bark at the musical one either. It's great.

Randomly go off with no sound and dogs have to be within 10 feet in order for it to work
Product says it stops barking up to 150 ft. In audible mode it goes off when the wind blows up against it but won't detect dogs barking unless they are within 10 feet of it. I have 4 dogs. And sometimes it hears it's own echo and goes off repeatedly and not shut off? I've adjusted the sensitivity from low to all the way up but it doesn't seem to work. I have two of them, one on one side of my property and one on the other and they do the exact same thing. Sometimes they go off with no sound around at all. Tested at several locations and they just don't seem to work properly. I live on 3 acres out in the boonies. I don't know, not worth the money if you ask me as they don't seem to work. Instead of not barking they just don't want to go outside now because they just randomly go off for no apparent reason at all. Adding another issue to this. I installed brand new 9 volt batteries. Instructions say they will last about a week initially while the dogs learn. However, on both my units the batteries died within 24 hours. The remote control works really good though. Looks like returning these will be a pain. Not worth the money, don't buy. I think I will turn the sensitivity all the way down and just use the remote but that defeats the purpose since you have to be personally involved in the training. Construction is cheap and they are not water resistant.

Didn't work for me
This might work for some dogs, and I'm sure it does, but unfortunately I live next to Satans dog. It can and will bark at anything it damn well pleases. Shouting at him, throwing snowballs and such at him only emboldens him to bark more. When I plugged this in, he started barking, pausing briefly upon hearing the device go off, and then in a attempt to apparently drown out the annoyance, barked even louder and longer than normal. I fear my only hope is a small asteroid or lightning strike to bring some peace to my yard.

Prevents nuisance barking, not all barking
This device did help with the nuisance barking (barking for no reason, boredom, etc.), but did not prevent the dog from barking whenever people approached or cars came close. The manufacturer's website actually says it will only help with nuisance barking. I've used this for two different groups of dogs, and the first group it did seem to stop most of their barking, but the second group it only stopped some of the barking. One dog in particular refuses to comply. Seems like some dogs learn better than others, and some dogs are just guard dogs and don't care. I'd probably still buy again, but with the awareness that it may not work depending on the dog. I do think the device works, just not on all dogs. Depends on how their owner's have trained them to behave, whether directly or indirectly through their actions when people approach.

Works great for me.
By day three there was a huge reduction in barking. My neighbors have two dogs, one quiet, one that barks the entire time it is outside, which they have a doggy door, so it is outside most of the day and night. It doesnโt bark at anything most of the time. Just sits in the middle of the yard barking and looking around like it is bored. Which I guess it is. Hence the constant barking. They obviously donโt care. After listening to the dog bark from 4am to 6am, I was fed up and ordered this unit. Day one, I wasnโt sure if it was working as the dog had no reaction, even though I could see the green light activating when it barked. But I decided to give it a few days as several reviewers have pointed out that it has to train the dog. On day two, I saw it outside and it wasnโt barking. Hmmm, thats new. So I went out on my deck. Anytime I am out there, it barks the whole time. Even if it isnโt outside, when it hears me go out, it will run out and start barking. The neighbor behind us let their dog out just a second before I started out, so it got its attention first and it ran up to the fence in back. This movement caused the quiet dog to follow. But still no barking. Then as if it just couldnโt handle it, it started barking. The quiet dog bolted like it had been hit by something. I wasnโt sure if it got spooked by the other dog or if it was actually the ultrasonic noise that scared it, as the barking dog didnโt seem affected at all. The dog behind us, went back in the house. Then the neighbor dog saw me and ran towards my fence barking. It was barking for a couple minutes, and finally I grabbed the unit and made sure it was pointed right at the dog. I was also tapping on it, so it would be on continuously (I didnโt realize it had a remote until day four. LoL)โฆ After about another minute the dog yelped and ran inside. Cool, it had never done that before. Day three, it was outside but not barking. I wanted to see if it was a fluke, so I went outside. As soon as I stepped on the deck, the dog ran inside without barking. He obviously has me associated with the noise. LoL It has been about a week, and while it will bark occasionally, it is rare and only for a few seconds when something has itโs attention. There hasnโt been anymore of the non-stop barking since day three. I do have line of sight from my deck to their entire yard, as my deck sits up higher. From what I have read and what I experienced, it is very directional, so line of sight is a must. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Daily tappers .. Not there fault!
So I got this because I just moved into a new apartment building! My next door neighbors have these two little tappers that bar for hours of the day and nigh ๐ก (Called the animal control for options !! That was a joke!) so desired to talk to the neibor... He said to learn to live with it and I told him that I will consider animal control ! He looked at me I the eye and said " go ahead and do it ! There's nothing that they ca do! He was right .. Unless you take time to go to court and put up a good amount of money!(state of California) Anyway looked on line ans saw the ad read the directions clearly bought it 3 weeks later called the help line they told me that it takes several weeks befor it can work and if I was still unhappy to send it back for my $80.00 refund ! So it's been six months now and this piece of plastic crap doesn't work what so ever ! There's two sound to it silent and sound ! When I had it on silent I never knew if it was working on the dogs they just keep on yapping! When I put it on sound I got a lot of complaint and even had the cop knocking on my door for nois violation... Funny cops refuse to go to my the owners of these yapping owners for 24-7 nois tell me that I need to go to animal control! It a big joke as well as this product! " don't get me wrong I love dogs , cats and all other animals It just sad that people get these lovable pets and don't give them the attention that the need ! Exercise, good diet, and yard space ! Thanks

It does work and has great features but...
I really like the features of this thing such as sensitivity settings, sound vs. ultrasonic, etc.. It even comes with a handy little weather shield, remote, and an A/C adapter. I purchased it because the neighbors bought a pitbull that they do not control at all so he barks at anything and everything. The pros: It only took about 1 week for this thing to really do its magic and the dog now does little more than wimper or if he barks, he does it from inside their house. The cons: This thing lasted 1 battery (about 2 days on highest sensitivity) and then wouldn't work after that. Turns out, it just won't work with a battery, it does work with the A/C adapter. I tried 3 different brand new batteries so it's something in the battery circuit. Summer weather so it wasn't rain or anything and it was under cover. If you don't mind having an extension chord laying across your yard (or wherever) then it does pretty good. It has worked for about 2 months now and is starting to get buggy again.

AWESOME!!
I read a bunch of reviews before I pulled the trigger on this one. Most of the issues I read had to d do with the battery life, and that is legit the battery doesn't last long so I recommend having a plug in power source. Our neighbors dogs are in their back yard a lot of the time, just barking at nothing and at everything! For hours they will just stand there and bark. Which is terrible because our bedroom window is right next to where they stand and continually bark, and bark, and bark. It's just awful! I was a little worried about moisture hitting it so I cut the bottom of a 5 gal bucket off, stuck it to a piece of plywood and fixed it to my deck where it points right at where their dogs just stand there and bark for hours on end... the first time they got a jolt from this thing, heads down and to the house they went. It's a very short distance between them and the gadget, but they might get one bark out nowadays and that's it before their tails between their legs and their gone. They still do their business outside, but they do it quietly. The neighbors didn't ever seem to care, or to try and correct them. That's so frustrating, inconsiderate and just plain disrespectful, so I absolutely love this and totally vouch for it. 10 stars!!

Works on normal dogs, not on scared dogs
Works nice, but on dogs that are fearful and bark out of being scared or overprotective it does not work as good. The dogs we had problems with were also given treats for barking and call good dog's. Great little device.

The Bark Control Pro is NOT waterproof
The Bark Control Pro is not waterproof. Even with the "Raincoat" it recommends that you bring it inside during a rainstorm or the warrenty is not valid. What are you going to do, bring it in, then run back out when the neighbor's dog starts barking? Or rush home from work, when it starts raining to bring the thing inside? I tried to return the product and didn't receive an answer saying that I could. This product is a lot more expensive than other bark control devices and all of the other ones are waterproof.
