Amazing Drone, easy to use right out of the box! My 6 year old loves it!
I had promised a drone for my son for Christmas, but his grandmother got to that first. However, she got a very cheap low-end drone which didn't work out of the box. Fast forward to now, I picked up the HS440 drone for him based on the reviews which were extremely positive, both for the drone itself, as well as for customer service. Out of the box, the drone was extremely easy to set up. Follow the instructions provided, and you'll be good to go. Turn on the drone, then connect your phone to the wireless. Once that's done, power on the controller (when it beeps you know they're talking to each other) then calibrate (both knobs down the right until it beeps) then start the drone by pulling the left controller down to the right, and the right controller down to the left. There is a button to take off and land the drone, and the controllers respond extremely well without being overly sensitive. I'm not going to retype all the instructions here, but suffice to say that in less than 90 seconds out of the box, you'll be flying the HS440 which is extremely easy to do. I suggest that you tap the joystick until the drone moves, then let go. Think of driving a boat in the water, a small movement goes a long way. I can't speak to flying it outdoors yet, but my takeaway from reading the other reviews (and this is pretty common-sensical) is to not fly it outside when there is significant wind. On calm days I can't see this thing being anything other than amazing. As anyone knows, it's one thing to get a quality device, but it's yet another to have someone you can actually talk to about any issues or problems. Holy Stone is front and center with customer support, I can't praise them highly enough. Finally, my son is 6 1/2, and he is loving this thing! Buy this drone, it's a great product with excellent support and a really good pricepoint.

spent 2 months in a tree and still works great
bought this drone to learn the basics of drone flight. loved it right out of the box. easy to control, easy to learn and easy to fly. camera works great. itโs not professional quality and not mounted on a gimbal but you canโt expect that at this price point. the remote control does a great job of changing the angle of the camera and it all functions great. the camera app was easy to download and figure out. it allows photos and video to be taken. using my smart phone as the viewer helps a lot. wish i had a set of googles but thatโs nothing to do with the drone. the remote does a good job of controlling the drone and has a place to mount your cellphone. more range would be great but again at this price what are you expecting. it does a good job and iโve flown it out of visual site before. it came back fine. it does struggle in wind. best to just keep it away when itโs strong enough to fly a kite. had a great few weeks with it playing and learning. then i had an incident. i took it up to our property to see if i could get an aerial view of the land. it did great going out and flew against the wind. as the remote battery failed the drone veered off course and crashed into a tall pine tree. i couldnโt climb up and couldnโt even tell which tree it was in. i had written this off as i couldnโt climb the tree and couldnโt recover the drone. fast forward 2 months. itโs a really windy day. i go to the base of the trees and actually see the drone sitting upside down on the ground. i couldnโt believe it. i removed the battery. cleaned the corrosion off the contacts and took it inside. i changed remote batteries, charged up the spare battery and took the drone outside. it still works!!! 2 months in a tree and this thing still functions great. i am currently charging the battery that was outside and all appears to be good to go. i canโt believe this drone still functions after all iโve put it through. i will definitely stick with this company in the future.

Great beginner drone
I am actually just trying it out. It has been raining so just tried it today. The packaging is very good. The case it comes in is pretty good quality. Being brand new to drones or any remote controlled vehicle this was very easy to open up and get flying. The Information in the package was easy to understand and use. The spare parts were a nice bonus. Have yet to shoot any videos, just learning how to control it. Two things that were not good or bad. I use an Otterbox on my iPhone 14 pro max. It would not fit into the controller with the case on. So that will be kind of a pain to rรฉnover the case every time. The second is I watched a couple of you tube videoโs reviewing this model and they mentioned two batteries. It has one. It is my fault for not reading the product description 100%, but with two batteries I could be charging one while flying with the other. Other than that, I am very happy with this drone and look forward to learning how to fly and make videos with this basic drone before jumping into a bigger one with more bells and whistles. If I lose it, I wonโt be that pissed at myself.

Inexpensive and works amazing!!!!!
I Bought this drone and have been thoroughly enjoying it since. I bought the drone not having flown one ever before but it's easy to learn on, has high and low speeds and I honestly still prefer low for another flying. The drone arrived quickly and is packaged in it's case, which is great and has a really high quality zipper and pretty tough foam. Everything you get is inside with separate compartments for the drone, both batteries, and the controller. Also included in the top half in a zippered mesh enclosure are two USB charging cables for the batteries, a set of propellers, a small screwdriver and the instructions. You'll need to provide your own AAA batteries for the remote, 3 of them, but otherwise the drone and all of it's accessories and more can be stored in a nice case. The camera is about what you'd expect in this price range, streams to your phone when you download the app and connect to the drones Wifi, the feed is choppy at times, but it does make some pretty cool movies for viewing on a cell phone, images are higher quality and I believe 1080p. Camera has a 90ยฐ vertical pivot that works smoothly and also allows for cool shots. Actual flying is a ton of fun, the drone is fairly smooth with very little to no lag time between actions on the remote control and the drone, despite being light it does fight wind pretty well, but being as light as it is expect to work to keep it semi stable in any breeze. Drone has Headless mode, which I haven't used much, high speed rotate, which I've never used on purpose, circle, which works well from my limited use, and auto takeoff and landing which works ok but you may not use it rather quickly. I've had the drone up about 80' but always fought wind and living in the woods small mistakes mean crashes into trees. I have personally crashed this drone many, many times, typically catching a branch or leaves from a few feet off the ground, durability is amazing as the drone has largely survived without damage. I have had two large crashes, the first I was roughly 60' up and the winds picked up and I lost sight of the drone, not wanting it to get lost in trees and my neighbors field I hit the emergency shut down, the drone hit a tree branch roughly 40-50' up and then dropped straight down onto compacted gravel. This crash is the only damage visible as it came straight down on one of the propeller arms, crushing the plastic guard and causing the propeller adapter piece to fall out. However, once I picked it up and pushed the propeller back in place, I was able to continue flying with no major issues. Later, I was pushing the battery to it's limit about 60' up and it began auto-landing, a feature of this drone, unfortunately it was near a branch in a tall tree and crashed upside down on a branch. A few days later it fell out of the tree in the wind and caught in a bush 5' off the ground, unharmed.. Overall I'm super happy with the purchase and my only problem is now that I'm sufficient as a pilot I've crashed enough that I damaged the one gearbox and I'm not sure how long it has left. That damage is from me however and if you don't fly as recklessly as I did while learning I think you'll be impressed by the durability, ease of use, and fun offered by this little drone especially for the price

Holy Stone HS440 Foldable FPV Drone Look elsewhere.
Holy Stone HS440 Foldable FPV Drone Is not worth buying. I bought two so I could have a spare battery. The cost of buying a spare battery is almost as much as the price of an entire drone, so buying a second drone, battery included made sense to me. The first drone was very unstable and trying to trim it was so difficult tat by the time it did sort of fly correctly the battery was dead. This is flying in ZERO wind with a properly paired and calibrated drone. After landing on its own in the grass, one of the prop motors gave out (stripped gear). Not because the batteries were low but because it decided to just go down. Enter drone number two. For the first few flights the second drone seemed better than the first one. It still took FOREVER to get it trimmed correctly and it never ever hovered without drifting in which ever direction it wants to. Again by the time its trimmed as well as it can be, the battery is close to dead so flight time is a few minutes at best. Now, while it is flying as good as it will get, once you activate the camera in video mode, the drone immediately goes out of trim again and is even more difficult to correct with trimming. I can't figure that out. Trying to take a video is futile. You will never get a smooth stable video with this drone since you are constantly trying to correct its flight or trying to get it to hover in one spot. Your video ends up looking like you were bobbing for apples while recording. Finally after several flights where drone two seemed to work so so, today it decided to start behaving like drone one. It does what it wants when it wants with no regard to commands. Properly paired and calibrated and batteries all fully charged with no indication by the lights or beeps that any batteries were weak. I might add that all of these flights are no further than 25 feet or so in any direction since I don't trust it at further distances, but I digress. Back to today...the drone was acting unstable more so than usual and finally came down from about five feet, into the grass. Sure enough one prop motor, even though it spins, is now stripped (you can hear it as it spins) and the drone will no longer fly without drifting quickly to the left. It's now toast, just like the first one. I don't write negative reviews often, if ever, but this drone is not worth purchasing. Look elsewhere, even if it means paying more. This drone is just not worth the frustration and/or cost. Look for a better quality drone.

Depends on Your Needs. See the Pro and Con List Before Buying
TL;DR: see pros and cons. Read the entire review for details. PROS Small and compact, it travels well Flight controls are fairly easy Good video feed and the photos were good - not professional quality, but good. durable after several crashes Good instruction manual The company has very helpful instructional videos You can shop on the Holy Stone website, and still check out on Amazon Quiet operation The Holy Stone App is functional and registers flight time, number of flights, and has helpful links. The app keeps a gallery of your photos. You can share the photos directly from the app to email or messages. Extremely handy. CONS Frequent reset and reconnection are required A tedious multiple-step process to reconnect The steps must be completed in the exact order as instructed and often repeated to register with the device. Very limited radius You need a spotter when flying or risk losing the drone. Phone screen often freezes or goes black, meaning you lose visual -- very bad unless you maintain visual on the drone itself. If you lose the drone in high grass or rough terrain, it is very difficult to find. No GPS. Not for children under 14 without supervision. - This may not be a con. You will need to register on the app, and it does not remember your login or password. Very annoying to have to remember. This drone is a notch above a toy model - and while not a toy per se, it is not a drone that you could do much with other than have fun with. It may be a good starting drone to learn controls and get the hang of flight before investing in a more expensive drone. This may be a good drone for a roofer to look at a high-pitch roof, or a real estate agent to take aerials of a house, but I suspect its use in a professional setting is limited. If you have a mid-sized open area where you can fly with no trees, like a soccer field, football field, or even an open park, it may be a good drone for beginners. The wifi connectivity is the biggest issue for me. We have large farm fields, which I thought would be perfect for flying this drone. However, this drone only has an effective range (radius) of about 300 feet or one football field. At about 200 feet, the picture freezes, then at 300ish feet, the connection drops with the drone itself, and it will go wonky and fall out of the sky. If you are flying it using the camera, once you lose camera feed, losing visual with the drone is highly possible unless there are two people. One flying and one spotting the location of the drone. We spent as much time recovering it as we did flying it, until we got the functional radius nailed down. It is small (which is fine) and has no bright markings to assist in finding it. This is easily remedied with some model paint and neon stickers. It has no GPS locator--You are on your own if you lose it. For the price of $70-$100, I guess you get what you pay for. Once it is flying, the controls are fairly easy, and a 12-year-old could fly it with a slight learning curve. The compatibility with the cell phone was quite finicky at first, but it works once you get the steps down. You WILL have to reset the drone and repeat the steps every time it crashes or you get too far out of range. The aforementioned 12-year-old gave up as it was a tedious process. The adults hung in for a little longer, but it did cease to be fun having to go through the startup and reconnect device steps so often. Battery life was ok. I did invest in a second battery, but we never flew it long enough to need it. I do not recommend the expense of a second battery unless you fly this often and you find you need one. I bought the second battery directly from the Holy Stone website, and it was half the price of the batteries on Amazon. The Holy Stone website allows you to check out using your Amazon account, which is nice. I am not giving up on this drone, as I think it has some potential. It depends on your expectations whether or not this would work for you. I uploaded some aerial pics. I will be doing a video on an actual flight process.

Fantastic little drone
Does this drone have GPS, brushless motors, or an ultra high res EIS camera? No! Is it fun? Absolutely!! The HolyStone HS440 is one of my favorite beginner/entry level drones. It strikes a perfect balance between cost and performance. It can be had below $100 too if you watch for discounts! I love the little carrying case it comes in. Also included with the HS440 are two 1900mAh 1S batteries, four extra props, two usb chargers, the transmitter, and the user manual with some battery safety pamphlets. I really like the case, It holds everything neatly and in place. I also appreciate the full set of extra props and extra battery. The transmitter runs on 3 AAA batteries and has a remote tilt scroll wheel for the drones camera which I thought was sweet for the price point. It's easy to trim the drone too if needed. The two included chargers are easy to use, plug in the batteries, on the usb side it has a red indicator light for charging and turns green when complete. It has relatively large brushed motors that give it surprising zip in high speed mode, and enough kick to handle mild winds with relative ease. Itโs yaws are very snappy, Iโve had more expensive brushless drones yaw like an Abrahams tank in molassesโฆ not this one. The battery run time is pretty spot on at ~20 mins under normal circumstances. If you fly it like you stole it or fight stronger winds it will drain faster. The App is intuitive and easy to use. I think it's cool how it tells you your total flight time and number of flights. The HS 440 is just plain fun to fly around. Decently agile, and the 1080p camera has acceptable quality. Be sure to throw in a micro SD card to save photos and videos in full res. Range is pretty good, It seems like the description is accurate. I haven't done a max range test yet, but for what I use it for I don't need too. I just like to zip around the yard with it and do some flybys, this would be perfect for a park flyer too! Do yourself a favor and pick this little gem up if you can, you won't be disappointed and will be pleasantly surprised by how much fun you can have with a brushed drone!

This Drone is Absolutely Awesome!!!
This is Absolutely a Great Little Drone it Looks Like the "Mini-Me" of the HS720(E) it is super easy to set up and I was really impressed the storage case it comes with and how quiet it is but the 2 things that really impressed me was the SD Card Slot (up to 32GB) on the Drone and you can adjust the Camera up and down From the Controller that really blew my mind because I have never seen that feature on a small Drone, it's not really a mini Drone it's more like a mid-sized but it truly preforms like a full size Drone, the App is laid out so it is very easy to understand and use, the FPV is great too I sat in my Recliner and was able to fly it through my house using the FPV, the Videos are really clear and they are stored to your cellphone (720P) and the SD Card (1080p) the Controller range is 330ft and the FPV range is also 330ft, the auto take off button on the controller makes this Drone perfect for beginners, when you press it the Drone takes off nice and easy and will hover at like 4 or 5ft, it may drift a little (especially in a little wind) but setting the trim was really easy and once you have it trimmed the altitude hold is great it hovers so well you have plenty of time to use the features on the App (circle fly, tap to fly ect.) or even take a drink lol! I would absolutely recommend this Drone to anyone wanting to learn how to fly Drones or anyone just wanting a super fun Drone to fly indoors on a rainy day or in there backyard (with no wind) bottom line this is another really great Drone from Holy Stone not to mention they have Great Customer Service.

Best, cheapest, easy to use quad copter out there. Lots of fun.
I liked everything about this drone. Best, cheapest, easy to use quad copter out there. Lots of fun and doesn't crash into my living room walls or ceiling like the last drone I had did. I only have problems in strong winds. But that's the same for most drones anyway. Enjoy

After Sales Service - very efficient
Great little drone - should have bought the HS440S but not sure what to buy for my first drone. Had problem with it drifting on lift off - couldn't get it to just hover. Also wanted to know what would happen if it happen to fly out of range. So I contacted Holystone and received an answer 2 day later (was over a weekend). Answer was quick and to the point. The drift problem took a while to solve. According to the instructions, hold down the Trimmer button until a beep and then move the right joystick in opposite direction to the drift. Took a while to figure out that you can't leave the joystick to the side but need to move it back and forth from the center position. Each time you do this a beep occurs indicating that a position has been locked in so to speak. Anyway - to adjust drift follow the instructions but move the joystick from the center and back several times to stabilise the drone. Once that was done, I had a play - great for height and remained stable. Already considering buying another with GPS Purchased a second battery Takes great pictures. Love it

Excellent toy drone .......
Super lightweight. Good for a day with no wind at all. Slightest wind means unstable flying.

Great entry-level drone
I recently purchased the Holy Stone HS440 Drone as my son's very first drone, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! As a beginner, he was looking for a drone that would be easy to operate and help him learn the ropes of piloting without breaking the bank. The HS440 delivered on all fronts. One minor hiccup I encountered was getting the drone connected to the app. However, I must highlight the outstanding customer service I received from Holy Stone's support team. After a quick email, they guided me through the troubleshooting process patiently and professionally. Thanks to their assistance, I was able to get the app working perfectly, giving me access to the drone's live camera feed and various flight modes. To sum it up, the Holy Stone HS440 Drone is an excellent choice for beginners like my teen son. Its durability, ease of use, and responsive controls made his learning curve smooth. The minor setback with the app connection was quickly overshadowed by the exceptional customer service I received. If you're a first-time drone pilot looking for an affordable yet reliable entry-level drone, the HS440 is definitely worth considering!

Awesome customer service
The drone is perfect for beginners!! I am having a blast learning how to fly the HolyStone 440 drone. There is no gps so the skill you develop for stability is all your own. I think that flying my next one will be so easy. I had a problem with one of the motors and their customer service was very polite and quick in getting me the replacement part. Thank you guys, you deserve a raise.
