My cat weighs 20# and measures 20" around behind the front legs. I've tried and returned several cat and small dog harnesses. Many companies claim that their harness will fit an "extra large cat" and so far, I've found none that would. The Come With Me Kitty is the model I prefer for my cat, in terms of style and comfort, but unfortunately, that brand does not make a harness for cats in an "Extra Large" size. I will save the "Large" size I bought in that brand for later when my cat loses weight. After searching I found the Coastal Pet Size Right product. The Coastal Pet harness is easy to put on our cat and seems comfortable for her when adjusted properly as to not squeeze her too tight behind her front legs. It is well made and not heavy or thick - is a very good design. It does not stretch but is adjustable. We are always outside with our cat when she's wearing the harness - we're working with her to walk on a leash. However, whenever she chooses, she can escape from this harness, as I'm sure that any cat with a mind to do so, could. This is a very good product and good option if you are walking an extra large cat on a leash. I called the company before purchasing it and they were very knowledgeable and helpful.

This is, without a doubt, the best harness you could purchase! This is my third harness (I've bought 2 for my dogs and one for my parents) and each has held up nicely. The first one that I purchased is two years old and is still in perfect condition. I've used other harnesses and collars, and this is the only thing that will keep my dogs from slipping out without resorting to a choke collar. The harness is super easy to put on and the swiveling loop for the leash keeps us from getting tangled. It's a perfect harness and just so happens to be one of the cheapest ones that I could find. The ONLY thing you should watch out for is the sizing. If you have dog that's on the borderline of a size, go with the bigger harness. I think these things run a little small. I wish I could give this harness more than 5 stars. I seriously love this thing.

How can I complain about a dog harness that has lasted just about 16 years? The material used for the harness was still in great condition. The part that finally failed was the plastic piece that holds the harness material and metal ring used to connect the leash to. This shows just how tough this harness is. Again, almost 16 years of trouble free use. These are the easiest and best harnesses I've ever found for my dogs. Easily adjustable, strong, and long-lasting. Excellent product.

By far, the easiest harness I have ever used to put on my dog. This adjusts quickly and with a nice range of measurements. My dog, a German Shepherd mix, has a very large and pointed chest. Overall he's not that large for a shepherd (65 pounds), but finding a harness that fits his somewhat oddly shaped chest has been a challenge in the past. Additionally, although we've made great strides in his behavior, he still gets excited to go for walks and it is far easier to slide this over his head than it is to get him to step in to our old one (that's right Cooper, left foot, now right foot...good dog!). The metal loop on the back swivels so it is easy to attach a lead from either side of the dog, or switch from one side to the other if needed. I have had harnesses in the past that did not swivel, and sometimes the clip on the lead would get a little twisted up. I'm only taking away one star because if Cooper pulls at all on the harness, the adjustment piece will slide back which tightens the strap around his abdomen and thereby also loosens the one around his neck. Generally he doesn't pull anymore, but one can only expect so much restraint when bunnies taunt you. Overall, this is the best harness I've ever encountered in my 20 years of dog ownership. That said, it may not be the best choice if you have a dog that really likes to pull a lot as you will have to stop and readjust the harness frequently to keep it from squeezing the dog's abdomen.

I have two adopted terrier mutts who occasionally enthusiastically forget their manners on walks. I had used cloth slip-loop choke style collars, which had to be right up around their ears to halt their pulling. But those collars inevitably slip too low on their necks, causing constriction and "coughing" and therefore weren't working for us. This harness eliminates the coughing, and gives me better control over their occasional pulling making the walking experience much more pleasant for us all. (We use a double leash: one handle with two leads, and LOVE that!) And once adjusted, it's a breeze to slip on and off. No loops to navigate their legs through. NOTE: The dogs are 22 and 25 pounds, and measured 21 and 22 inches at the chest behind the elbows (as per instructions) but this harness is maxed out to accommodate them. They fit snugly but not tight (which I think is correct as the harness does not slip when we're walking), but there is no room to adjust bigger. So measure carefully and if you're at the top of the sizing, I'd go up not down.

I had an old Dachshund and one of these harnesses in the past and it was the perfect harness. Totally simple to put her into, unlike most other harnesses. But the Dachshund didn’t pull. I recently purchased 2 of these harnesses for my 3 year old Lab and 6 month old Collie and am not loving them. That’s because both dogs pull and the harnesses tighten up around their necks and may be choking them somewhat. Also, as the leash hook is on their back, there is no discouraging effect when they do pull, suck as chest hook harnesses provide. (On the other hand, chest hook harnesses often get tangled under their bodies which the back hook prevents). I may put these harnesses aside until the dogs are older and slower, and go back to our other chest hook harnesses until then. TBD.

Good harness. Easy to put on and off. The X brace does slip from side to side as your dog is walking, but it doesn't affect effectiveness. If your dog pulls on the leash, the strap around the neck will pull tight and you may want to loosen it to leave a finger width of space for comfort. I had a dilemma because my dog has a girth of 18 inches, and both this and the 12-18 inch version would fit. This one was a bit large looking on her, though it did fit. The smaller one also fit, but was lighter and thinner and looked better on my small breed dog. If you have a dog that is under 20 pounds with a chest diameter of about 18 inches, the smaller version may be better for you. I had to order both to see which would actually fit better and ended up using the smaller one. I leave it on all the time as it is comfortable and then my dog is already ready--always.

This harness fits Winnie perfectly and doesn’t interfere with the movement of her shoulders. It’s easy to put on and take off and easy to adjust.
