The filling has a slightly sandy coarse texture, They ARE beans after all, But they're incredibly tasty, a mellow sweetness that isnt even remotely as powerful as american sweets, Its more akin to the sweetness of something like a mcgriddle, I dont know how to describe the red bean flavor but it tastes like a honey pancake with a really nice texture and filling, The red bean chunks give a little pop texture kind of like soft roasted chunks of peanut, in terms of texture.

Wonderful! Having lived in Japan, this makes me miss it more! These pancakes are traditional and fabulous. They are individually wrapped which helps keep them fresh. If you know this food and like them, buy these. They are worth it!

They look, feel, smell, & taste fresh; they're soft and moist. The cake is denser than an American pancake but not as dense as a loaf cake & still fluffy; it's sweet too. There is enough filling; might have 1 bite that's a little lacking depending on how the filling shifted in transit but the rest of the bites I took had a good balance of filling to cake with a little extra filling in the center. The filling isn't too sweet, so it's closer to traditional I think as I've had more Americanized red bean treats that were too sugary. A good price for the size. Very filling too, as I expect from a Japanese snack.
