Can be built around a large tree π²
I didn't use this as a tomato cage. I bought it because you could build it around a plant. I recently moved. It was an incredible down size for me. I have a 7ft indoor rubber tree. It had gotten huge and spread out in my brightly lite house. When I moved to an apartment it took up nearly half of the living room as it couldn't be up against the wall. With the living room being so small the tree would have to be maneuvered around and it would be brushed when walking by. This is my baby. I saved it from someone's garbage. It had one brownish greenish leaf on it. That was 10 years ago. So I set out to find something to bring the tree to a upright standing position...as it should be. I tried lots of things with no success. Then I got this. I built it around the tree. Granted it doesn't look like it's supposed to but it was assembled by me so it's not surprising. But it worked because I could put the bars where I needed them to keep from damaging the tree while keeping the branches close together There was no real instructions. The expandable arms (bars) weren't what I thought. I had to hook two bars together as I had to space out the poles to accommodate the trees size. There are a limited amount of poles that fit in each other. Think of those nightmare tent stakes. I noticed that the silver connector pieces came out with a good tug. Then I scraped off the purple plastic on the end of another pole and made 5 long poles with pieces to spare. I used the black plastic pieces that hold the bars together for shipping to hook the bars together. You can zoom in to see. It's a bad description of what I did but I'm totally stoked my tree is upright and not being brushed and having to manuevered around. This was pert near perfect. I may have to buy another one to support my jade tree. I included a before pic of my massive rubber tree. If it works for a tree I guarantee it'll work for a big tomato plant!

Easily assembled and Adjustable to fit needs, plus it's purple!
2nd Edit: Contacted the company, and they are sending a new set without the need to return the other with missing pieces! They were quick to respond and super easy as they focused on customer satisfaction. Love the product, and the company seems excellent as well.Edit: ordered and received a 2nd set. The 2nd set arrives open and repackaged in an Amazon shipping bag, with the open box and free standing product inside. They were missing the middle expansion rods. Received the pointed ground rods and the top capped rods. Still love the product, but hesitant to order a 3rd (which I wanted for my nephew who is taking up gardening this year). Not sure how to rectify, as Amazon only offers return/exchange and I already rigged a top supports together and am using the product. Would just like the replaced missing parts.Love the versatility. Using and building as needed. Have Part as a plant stake, other supporting pees, and a tomatoes plant. The peas still remain to be seen if they will grip well, but I believe they'll wrap nicely round the included wire tie, which too is adjustable and self cutting at desired length. Exceeded my expectations, great product, and so affordable too!

Good price for the product.
Sturdy enough for hearty tomato plants, but could definitely be taller for those plants that grow taller. Will use on my pepper plants this year. These are easy to snap together, but difficult to pull poles apart after use for storage.

They improved on the old design!
Based on older (2023) reviews and photos, it looks like they improved the cage. There is no bare metal on mine (June 2024). Also, those weird black clips are now circular plastic clips that are surprisingly durable.I had a similar cage from home depot that broke and fell apart very quickly, but these seem far more sturdy. Even with a very overgrown and heavy tomato plant, these hold strong! My only problem is my toddler always wants to build and play with them!!π

one design flaw
There's at least one design flaw, presuming that they are correct that the naked metal won't rust. (I stipulate this, because there is some metal showing at the joints between the leg segments.)I am using these pieces to support pepper plants, so (it being early in the season) it is obviously way too soon to see how things will work out. I am using them in a triangular shape (which is quicker and easier to put together than a square shape, which is what I had originally intended). Once I experimented a bit and figured out what to do, the structure was easy enough to put together. It does seem a little rickety, but I expect that it should hold up well enough.I do give the designers props for the versatility of their kit, though I must point out that once leg segments are put together, it is difficult to take them apart. Therefore, unless you know with certainty that you are going to need two or all three leg segments in height, I suggest that you start with just one leg segment high.My gripe (here is the design flaw) is that the designers apparently seem to have expected that all three leg segments would be used, to extend the structure to its maximum height. Not only am I not doing that (these are pepper plants, not tomato plants, and btw I would NOT use these for indeterminate peppers), but given the height of the mesh tents that I am using to fend off ravaging critters, I CAN'T use all three segments. (The legs would stick up through the mesh, thus making it difficult/impossible to lift the tents to harvest.) I want my peppers supports to be one leg segment in height, or at worst two.So I can do that, right? Yes, BUT... The designers failed to provide an end cap that you can put onto the top of the last segment that you are using (if you are not building to the maximum height). Thus, you are looking at a naked metal end, and if it rains, the interior of the legs can fill up with water, which I can't imagine is a good thing. Not to mention that it just looks BAD, with that unfinished top.So it would be nice if the designers threw in some end caps, to use if you aren't building to the maximum height. I would strongly suggest that they be easily removable and reusable, so that if the user decides that they need to go from one segment height to two, there is no problem wrestling off the cap and then recapping.Having just finished putting together 8 pepper supports, two more comments...First, the contents of the boxes (I bought 3) were not uniform. 2 boxes had the metal at the top of the bottom leg segment more or less flush with the colored plastic, which was fine. The 3rd box had the metal sticking up almost 2 inches above the metal part, which looks awful (if you aren't adding on the extra leg segments). The second comment I have to make is about the packaging of the plastic connecting pieces (which hold the metal legs together). These came all nicely packaged, in 3 piece bundles, each bundle held together by 2 black plastic snap-in segments. To be honest, I would much rather the bundles had been rubber-banded or zip-tied together. It was a bit of a pain to wrest those plastic connectors out from the black plastic (and one point the skin of my thumb got pinched in the process). Maybe the designers did it this way, thinking that users would then re-use those black plastic pieces to store the plastic connectors in during off-season. Nope, not me! I'm not going through that hassle again! So there were a LOT of black plastic connectors that ended up being thrown away - yes, thrown away, because there was no recycle code on them, and thus they could not be recycled by our recycling facility. A hassle for the user, a waste of resources - put that $$$ into the reusable end caps that I suggested above!
