Anxiety Ridden Cat Approved for marking!
My kitty Goose is the only one of 4 indoor cats we have that has had a terrible problem of marking (he’s 10 this year and this began 2 years ago) in one room of the house. Same spot over and over, no amount of enzyme cleaner or cleaning of the area and direct spot cleaning has made him stop. I was at my wits end and didn’t know what other steps to take, before going to the vet (he has been cleared of any medical complications) for prescribed medication, I figured I’d give this a shot. I give him one pill in the morning mixed with a quarter of his squeezable treat and he has completely stopped, he is much calmer overall, and actually seems at peace now. There are no side affects aside from the first dose where he literally looked like he was stoned for about an hour lmfao that has since stopped, and he acts completely normal after his dose (for his weight is recommended two, I only give him one) and he doesn’t notice any taste or smell from it, he gets excited when I shake the bottle in the mornings to mix it for him! I highly recommend this product for people struggling with a cat who has high anxiety or marking issues! From a very relieved cat mom who was ready to throw in the towel.

Works wonders
This calms my anxious kitty so much. I mix it with two churus and she licks it right up.

Didn't help my pup
Purchased for travel. My dog has always hated car and plane trips. It didn't seem to help. He was panting a lot and would calm down periodically, but overall I didn't notice it helping unfortunately. The capsules were a little large to try to sneak into his treat.

Life Changer
I rescued a male tabby cat at five months old (he’s now five years old). Since the inception, he’s had behavioral issues. He was very aggressive, never slept, overtly territorial, overate, vomited regularly and would attack out of nowhere (caused several deep bite wounds, two of which nearly landed me in the hospital). Not wanting a cat like this, I knew if I surrendered him, he would be euthanized, especially due to his history of biting. Having ruled out any underlying medical issues with his veterinarian, as a last resort, I consulted with a behavior specialist who felt he suffered from separation anxiety and she recommended Zylkene 75mg 1-2x per day. My cat has been on 75mg 2x a day for exactly one month today (he’s 16 lbs so the 75mg twice a day is appropriate dosing). After two weeks, I noticed my cat seemed considerably more relaxed. His sleep improved greatly, he’s no longer aggressive, has not vomited once, no longer overeats, is no longer territorial and has not even come close to biting me. He tolerates Zylkene well and administration is easy; I open the capsule and sprinkle the powder on top of Blue Buffalo moist food morning and night. I don’t need to mix it because he likes the taste of Zylkene; he licks the powder off the moist food prior to eating. The behavior specialist said I can ween him off this natural medication after a couple months, but quite frankly, I think it will be part of his daily regimen for as long as we are together. It’s very obvious my cat is much happier and more relaxed on Zylkene (without compromising his unique personality). Understandably, this makes me very happy because I just want to give him a happy, healthy and long life. UPDATE: It’s been over 3 months since my cat has been on Zylkene 75mg 2x day. Still no aggression or biting or any other related unwanted behavior. He has vomited a few times since my initial post but I narrowed that down to him inhaling the moist food when I sprinkle it with Zylkene morning and night. The resolution? Cutting the moist food down (from 3 oz to 1 oz per dose). He overtly loves the taste of Zylkene and loudly reminds me when it’s dosage time.

Decided to revisit this and try it out again
Update 2 months: This is absolutely necessary to keep the peace in my household. I have started to give her slightly more than 75mg, because it wasn’t working as well after a while but giving her 1 pill plus a little sprinkle from the second pill works great. She is just over the weight suggested for the 75mg. I tried to give it every other day but it just was not working as well as every day. We still smoosh it into a few pill pockets and make like a dough and then I pinch off treat size pieces and she loves it! She cries for it every morning and that is what she wants for breakfast lol. She’s now refusing wet food because this is what she wants. Update 7 days after initial review: I have been giving 1/2 of a 75mg capsule twice a day to my cat for 7 days straight now and she has not attacked my other cat in 7 days! We usually have stalking and attacking constantly so to go from constantly to none is very impressive! What I really like is that she still has her personality and does not seem drugged in any way. She just isn’t a psychopath stalker anymore 🤷🏻♀️. I plan on continuing the regimen and giving 1/2 to her twice a day. I started by sprinkling half a capsule on her wet food but she doesn’t eat all of it (she doesn’t mind the powder at all) so instead I have been buying pill pockets and I just knead it into the pill pocket like a dough and she eats it right up. This way she gets the full dose and I’m not wasting any. Initial review: My vet recommended that I try this before we put my cat on Prozac. I have two cats. My cats are not litter mates, they are both 6 years old and I adopted them one year apart. Pandora was the second cat I adopted and she has turned out to be a little psychopath. She constantly bullies and stalks and chases and attacks my other cat. It drives me insane and at times it’s extremely draining. I have tried very good quality lab tested CBD, and every kind of feliway spray and diffuser there is. Nothing works. I purchased this about 8 months ago and the first time I gave it to her she full on attacked my foot (not playing, it was very aggressive) and she has never done that before. So I have not given it to her again. Out of desperation, I am revisiting this option, after reading more about how to administer, I think she probably just needs more time to adjust. I sprinkled half of one capsule on top of about a tablespoon of wet food. She ate almost all of it right away. I purchased some pill pockets and I think I can smush the powder into them and feed it to her that way to ensure she gets as much of the product as possible without wasting any. She goes crazy for pill pockets! I’ll gladly update this review once we finish the bottle. Tonight was the first night we started it again and she walked around the house looking for something to get into for about 30 minutes (typical) and then laid down and went to sleep.

May Be Helpful, Too Expensive For Long-term Use
My experience comes from a cat shelter and, in recent years, working as a professional cat behavior consultant. It's hard to know with supplements if they really are effective, especially when they are used in conjunction with other behavior modification strategies. I can say that I used them with my cats for about a month as we were transitioning into our new home, and I thought they were helpful. I like that they have fewer potential side effects than prescription medication. Most cats don't mind the taste. For cats with more discerning taste, you can give the gel caps whole, on a lick mat in a pile of mixed-texture treats. The only drawback, from my perspective, is these supplements are pricey, which makes them less feasible for long-term use.
