Would this product be appropriate to keep foods hot too?

It's a vacuum-sealed, water-tight insulator like most others--its uniqueness is mostly in that it is shaped to hold a commercial pint of ice cream, which you could not easily melt or pack without compromising the ice cream. I'm sure you could use it to store hot foods effectively if you wanted to use it for that purpose. I would just be careful not to wash it in the dishwasher or you will void the warranty.
