how do you add more wood while a pot is sitting on it?

You have to remove the pot to add wood. But, the small amount you will add will let you pick up the pot with one hand, add a few sticks with the other and replace the pot. I have also been able to bring a quart of water to a boil with out having to add fuel.

will this leave a fire scar on the ground?

It CAN burn tinder-dry debris on the ground, especially if you have to blow on the wood to accelerate or restart fire (VERY common necessity!). It often blackens organic material if not removed first. Best to scrape down to mineral soil before making a fire in the stove. But normally it is very easy to avoid all this - the usual result is nice white ash.

China, but quality is good and costumer service is the best as I had a damage part from the mail, and was replaced quickly and with no problem. They stand up for there product.
