Celestion G12M Greenback 12 Inch Guitar Speaker 25 Watts - (16 Ohm)

A real gem. these speakers are among the best made for instruments, namely electric guitar. coupled with a tube amp, they give a warm, textured sound. Just great.

This speaker sounds *gorgeous* with my Fender SuperSonic 60 (head) tube amplifier. I have been playing electric guitar through tube amplifiers for decades. I've experimented with amps a LOT, but not so much with speakers. For the first time, I've gotten to try various speakers side-by-side (by loading them into a 2-12 Fender cabinet, and using a speaker switch to swap back-and-forth). This Celestion G12M "Greenback" speaker sounds as good or better than *any* other speaker I've tried. Furthermore, it has an excellent "efficiency" . . meaning that some speakers don't produce as much sound per Watt as others, but this one gives you a very solid amount of "punch", even at lower wattages. The tone is magnificent. I would recommend this speaker to any electric guitarist for rock guitar (and probably for other styles, as well - - I play classic rock). Just a few more tips: The picture I see in this listing shows an 8-Ohm speaker, but the *description* says 16-Ohms, and that is correct - - I received a 16-Ohm speaker. Also . . . many of the "Greenbacks" have been made in China (I've heard they're pretty good) . . . but this one actually says "Made in England" on it - - so maybe they've re-established manufacturing in ENGLAND, which is superb. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Sounds perfect with a vintage HiWatt amp. Just the sound I wanted. A bit pricey, but worth it.
