Honestly, I did not expect what I got in this dress. Wow! A very inexpensive dress all folded up in a cellophane bag. I'll be returning it. Oh no I will not return it! What a pleaser this little number is, couldn't be more perfect. The fabric, the weight, the workmanship, the color, I'm impressed! I love retro designs and as a tiny woman, 5' 95 lbs, clothing with too much fabric makes me look lost in the clothes. Retro designs, flattering necklines, fitted waist lines, flared skirts, are beautifully flattering and wonderfully feminine. This particular line of designs offers many great choices. I may have to order a dress in every choice. Here's a thought for certain women who can relate to my particulars. I'm 70 years now. There comes a time when a favored style may not be suitable any more and we are more inclined to go for comfort over style. I'm done with being cinched in and high heels. My classic style preference was suddenly wrong on me. Too short, too long, too young, too old (it looked mature when I was young but when I was mature, it looked frumpy) didn't fit the same, the style wasn't flattering. This fashionista had 4 closets of awesome clothes that suddenly seemed to be another person's wardrobe! For the past few years it's been all about tunics and leggings. Sick of that old lady look! I decided to try this dress. It stretches enough to forgive my failed perfections without actually highlighting them. It's easy to put on and zip up. It's vary figure flattering. The weight of the fabric gives it a look of quality and substance, i.e., it drapes well. I am just tickled about this beautiful dress! Yes, it's going to arrive with wrinkles but nothing should be worn right off the rack anyway. New clothes need touch ups to get rid of the factory works. There are no wild threads, the seams are correctly sewn, the construction if the garment is high quality, even the tags are high quality. I'm not going too ruin it for you, but read the care label. Sweet, conscience caring. Maybe you can tell, but I can't recommend this dress highly enough. I just stepped out of my old lady wardrobe and I'm thrilled. Amazon delivered as promised. I am always leery of buying clothing online since I can't try on the piece before purchasing. As we all know, a comfortable fit can vary several dress sizes, depending on how the dress is cut and what your body shape is. So the next best thing is to come to amazon, read the reviews, and hopefully find someone with a similar body type to mine to see if the cut is flattering on them. Hopefully this will help someone. For reference I am 5'9" and 165 pounds. I ordered the XL, and although I love my fit a little more loose, I could have easily gone with L if I wanted the dress to be a little more form fitting, especially in the hip and breast area. A few notes about fit: 1. I LOVE the fit. So flattering. It cinches in all the right places (for me it was right under the breasts, rather than the true waist, which has been destroyed from having kiddos. :) 2. The A line bottom hides the "pear shape" that I so often have trouble dressing attractively. 3. The bust had an oddly placed "stitch" near the top-- I assume this is to keep the breast area from gapping. But I cut that and found the fit much more flattering without it. If you cut the stitch and find that you feel exposed, a simple safety pin will do the trick. Feel and flow of the dress: 1. The material really surprised me with its durable feel and heaviness. It's not so heavy as to be uncomfortable (it breathes), but it really felt high quality-- not like the material that almost seems paper thin. 2. I was surprised by the stretch of the dress. It was really forgiving and stretchy-- not like, swimsuit stretchy, but definitely some stretch to it. So if you are between sizes I would suggest deciding how you want the fit to be-- loose and kind of flowy? Size up. But if you prefer a more shaped look, size down and don't worry about it fitting because the stretch will allow it. 3. Length. I was surprised by how long this dress was. It was a few inches away from mid calf. I think I might hem the bottom, which is easy enough. I am tall (5'9" and all legs) so I imagine on someone more petite this would be almost tea length. But like I said, easy enough to hem the bottom. Just something to be aware of. 4. I bought a cincher belt on amazon, also, for the waist. I just felt like a little ornamentation would be nice (since I picked a fairly plain pattern), and it looked awesome. Also as mentioned I chose a size up and the cinched waist made it seem more fitted but also comfortable. In a nutshell, is this dress worth the money? YES YES YES!!!! Do I feel beautiful in it? YES YES YES! It fits a variety of body types, it seems study and well made, and with a few adjustments I believe it will become one of my favorite outfits. I can't wait to order more! :) I hope this helps someone <3

I loved this dress. The shipping was quick and the quality is much better than expected, especially given the price. There were a few loose strings on seams that I snipped off, but no obvious flaws. The neckline is tacked pretty high, but I took that out and added one where it worked for me to keep the overlapping pieces where I wanted them. The color is pretty true to my monitor, and is a rich and deep wine-red. I ordered the Large and it fit really well - I'm 5'5" and 165 pounds, 36D, apple shape - and the fabric is stretchy, so it's very accommodating. I washed it in cold on a delicate cycle and dried it flat until damp, then hung it up. It was very wrinkled, but I ironed it with a steam iron on the lowest steam setting. Be careful about pulling on it too much, because it could stretch out of shape. To get the most out of the flair, I ordered a crinoline. I got this one: Short Petticoat Net Underskirt for Celebrity Dresses JS56-1 (M,Black) As pretty as the shape and color are, the dress is pretty plain. Since I was going to a formal gala, I wanted to 'bling it up' a bit. So I ordered this rhinestone ribbon sash belt: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0772HB7FQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Since I wanted to wear gold shoes, I went with the gold one. I cut the ribbons off and tacked the belt onto the waist of the dress - instant glam. Depending on your taste and color choices, you could leave the ribbon on and create a pretty look in the back, too. And I got lots of compliments.

Love, Love, Love this GownTown dress! I am a women's US size 16/Xl-XXL top, size 40D bra Size with a 38inch waist. I ordered this dress in XXL in the Navy Blue with White Dots. It fits perfectly - not too loose and not too tight which - any woman who chooses a fitted look can tell you - makes all the difference in looking your best! I am 5'6" and it hits me below the knees and then some, but expect that will rise a bit with a crinoline under for volume. I purchased this for a Pin-Up Outfit for an outdoor event and I couldn't be happier. The fabric is light but not cheap, and it has quite a bit of stretch. This dress could easily be sold for way more than the price here on Amazon. It is good quality, with a great cut and a flattering fit for us curvy girls. It can definitely be worn with or without a crinoline and I imagine it would be comfortable for an entire day need be. I will be purchasing from Gown Town again - that is for sure!

Absolutely love this dress! It will be my bridesmaids dress this coming April, and I cannot wait to see them all dressed up in this beautiful yet affordable dress! I am 4'11'' and about 100lbs, and the XS fits me like a glove! My sister is the same height and about 110+, with a large bust, and the small fit her perfectly as well. The dress comes tacked at the bust with a small stitch, which looks a bit awkward on larger breaststroke, but literally takes to seconds to remove, and lies perfectly afterwards! The fabric on this dress is so comfy and smooth, it stretches just enough to be flexible, but not enough to sag. The pink color is soft and romantic, and the neckline has more than a enough room for a large bust, while still looking good on a small one. The length hits me several inches below the knee, but isn't unflattering at all! Again, I am thrilled with this purchase. Shipping was quick since I used Prime, and the dress arrived in a lovely zip bag, neatly folded. It is a bit difficult to iron using a conventional iron, I had to use a wet cloth to press it, but a good steaming should work perfectly, and once it's pressed, it hold the press for a long time! The full circle skirt looks great as is, but I bought a petticoat to add some floof, and it looks phenomenal! Would absolutely recommend this dress to anyone who asks, I'll be buying myself one in every color!

I was pleasantly surprised by this dress. For the money the fabric is heavy enough to be flattering and the stretch makes it forgiving in size. I am usually a 14-16 and got the XL. I can remove the dress over my head without unzipping but it is snug around the chest and waist. The color is great (I got the blue) and just what I expected/was looking for. The bodice leaves something to be desired. I purchased the dress to augment for a costume but if I knew nothing about sewing I would be unhappy with the bodice. First, it was tacked in an odd place that prevented it from laying flat, I removed this tack and it fit better but needs a new attachment point added to the neckline to properly conceal a standard bra. Then I encountered a larger issue, the lining at the neckline is sewn in flat, so while the shell of the dress follows the curves of my chest the lining caused it to pucker, curl, and pull at odd angles. I cut out the hem on the lining and notched it at a few key points so it can follow the same curve as the dress shell. This improved it, now I just need to tack the tabs I created to the dress and it will be much better.

This dress went to our daughter’s first dance, Homecoming! She adores the dress and it looks amazing on her! Sorry for the cropped photo but she is still a minor. We were able to wash it on delicate and then hung it to dry in the bath. This worked for us because we live in the desert. I wouldn’t try it in the south, during rainy seasons or when the humidity is high. Then I would likely use the dryer with no heat and steam it out after. Be careful steaming as it does need it however if you aren’t careful the white/off white might end up with yellowing like some white dress shirts. The stretch in the fabric made it a very comfortable to wear all night and we did get the petticoat that was suggested as being bought with the dress when I added it to the cart. It is slightly stretchy, just enough to fit better. We got the white petticoat and strangely enough our cats have since claimed it as theirs! Apparently it crinkles just right for our feline family members. Our daughter recommends a slip underneath the petticoat if you are sensitive to scratchy fabric. After a while the petticoat gets a little itchy and she isn’t bothered by fabrics usually. I definitely would NOT recommend the petticoat to autistic people since it would likely be very very bad for their touch and skin sensitivity. The dress however shouldn’t bother any but the most sensitive of autistic people. It isn’t stiff like some cottons but also isn’t slinky like satin, silk or some polyesters. It is somewhere in between but doesn’t show the texture of the petticoat like silk would or a thin satin. Our daughter loves this dress so much she wants to get another one in a different color for church.

I'm a 16/18 on top and a 20 on bottom (U.S. sizing). The XXL fit me almost perfectly. There is a decent amount of stretch in it as well so it's forgiving. A lot of people mentioned not loving the way the top is stitched together. I actually plan on leaving it stitched. I think it would be far too low cut if it wasn't and I like the look of the sweetheart style top. Plus, I have narrow shoulders so it helps keep the top a little more structured. The material is a tad thin and a little stiff but not in an uncomfortable way. It's also a great length. I'm 5'10" and am used to most dresses being far too short but it hits below my knees, so it maybe be a tad long on someone who is short. The skirt flares out quite a bit. I plan on getting a petticoat to make it even more dramatic for an event I'm going too. I think the quality, style, and adorable melon pattern make it well worth the $30ish dollars I spent on it!!! I'm actually looking to get another for another event I'm going to!

I bought this dress for a 1950’s theme party. I wore it with a crinoline I had purchased years before. The material has a little stretch to it so that it felt comfortable as I danced the night away. The only thing is that the front is lower than I wanted (maybe because I’m short) so I wore a black sleeveless top underneath to not show too much.

I love it, the size so fit on me and the material is very nice , i feel happy with this dress.
