Utterly perfect
The balance of flavours, tones and textures just absolutely nails it for me, this is one of the best matchas I have tried for a fair price. Fresh deep intense matcha flavour with a bright dark green colour. Definitely recommended to all matcha lovers! Thank you Japan!...

Lovely budget matcha
This Matcha is quite bitter so bear that in mind, but the flavour is strong and lovely it’s quite floral and when you open the bag the smell of white chocolate is amazing, it feels fresh and lovely it’s a great quality for the price and it’s a beautiful green.

Smooth, gentle, balanced with a creamy layer
Edit: 8/7/25 I've included my review of the Ocha & Co. Shizuoka Organic 100g matcha here, as Amazon's listing category prevents posting two separate reviews. Let's be clear: despite the initial price being higher than many £25 premium tins, the 100g bag is a clear signal that this is a value pack for daily use. Whilst still organic and high quality, it isn't meant to compete on the level of premium offerings like Ocha & Co.'s own Gokou tin, so keep that in mind. The powder, whilst still a solid, pleasant green, is definitely more muted when compared to top-tier ceremonial grades. It does have a fine texture with some soft clumps, which is good, and a noticeable nuttier, toasted smell upon opening. Prepping it as usucha at 80C, the experience is where the value proposition shows its limitations. The froth isn't as rich and the colour, while decent, lacks vibrancy. The opening sip has a strong nutty hint, followed by notes of astringency, which, at this price for such a large volume, is somewhat expected. This is followed by a quick flash of umami and light sweetness. However, my biggest issue is the finish. There are grainy, gritty bits left at the bottom, accompanied by more astringency. No matter what temperature I use or how well I whisk, this gritty texture is always there. To be fair, this matcha is likely intended for daily lattes, smoothies, and similar drinks. In that context, it's probably fantastic value for an organic, Japanese-sourced product. But as a traditional usucha, it falls short for me. For that reason, I'm giving it 3 stars. Funnily enough, the packaging even suggests preparing koicha with it. I'm sorry, Ocha, but no one is going to use this for koicha. ________________ Gokou Tin: Visually, it's spot on, brilliant green powder, super fine, clearly good quality. Making it as usucha (80C, electric frother), it's got all those high-quality hallmarks: very smooth, gentle, nicely balanced umami and sweetness, no bitterness. Definitely premium, but didn't seem any different from other high quality Uji matchas. After drinking it a few more times, I did start to notice something a bit different, a really nice, almost velvety creamy texture or layer to it. That was interesting and quite pleasant, not used to ' creaminess' in any of my tea. But here's the thing: even with that creaminess, the actual taste profile still felt very much in that classic, balanced Uji camp. For something labelled "Limited Production" and at this price, I guess I was hoping for a more distinct or complex flavour to really make it stand out. It’s very good, don't get me wrong, but it didn't quite deliver a unique punch that would clearly separate it from another really good, smooth Uji matcha like the Midori Matcha Superior Grade I also reviewed. Maybe it would be a different story as koicha, which would bring out more depth, but that's not really for casual drinking and too expensive to experiments with. Overall, it's a lovely, high-quality matcha if you want something extremely smooth, gentle, and with a nice touch of creaminess. But if you're shelling out hoping for a really standout or different flavour adventure, it might feel a tad too polite and familiar. For a similarly premium priced matcha with a distinct character to it, I would recommend trying the Somei-Yoshino from YEDOENSIS on Amazon, which I also reviewed.

Organic! Amazing quality.
Perfect aroma, lovely color, and amazing quality! Definitely organic! I love the taste, it’s completely different from the matcha you get at coffee shops. I am replacing coffee with matcha and I feel much better health-wise. It boosts my energy and concentration in a much smoother way. I highly recommend buying a matcha kit (specially a bamboo whisk and a strainer) as electric mixers don’t create a smooth homogeneous drink - you will end up with some small grains (not as pleasant to drink). Without the proper tools, it can be tricky to prepare a nice drink and you might waste some product.

My review
Hello all, Exploring this option of a lower grade stuff because I’ve seen stuff online where fancy matcha peeps are like stop buying ceremonial grade when you mix with milk anyways. you can save some monies but not and it’ll taste good still so here we go. *Cost* You get 100g of this for £19.75 The best supermarket matcha for comparison that I have had is perfect ted which is on average £10 for 30g For my dabble in boujee Japanese fancy matcha I paid £22 for 30g. This was very nice stuff and low key might dabble in it every so often but not sustainable long term. So already we are getting v good value for money with this Amazon stuff *Packaging/ease of use* It arrived in a pouch This is okie and I decanted from this into my little tin which I prefer for ease *Initial thoughts* The powder is defo darker than what I have, it is not a super vibrant green but it is still matchay *Whiskability* Very easy and didn’t clump But I feel like it might be a slightly bit wetter as far as the powders go. Maybe why it is a bit darker in colour? *Flavour* I normally drink it with milk and some date sweetener or a syrup so I’ll do that as my comparison. Not 100% the best way to test but it’s how I drink so I’ll go with that as a benchmark It tastes exactly the same as what I’m used to. My conclusion, this is a perfectly okay matcha to use when mixed with milk. Happy to save lots of money here

Super Green & Super Tasty
Im new into the Matcha game and this is my first ever purchase of Matcha overall. I'm extremely happy with the decision to take the organic product. It takes abit of care and delicate handling when working with it the first time & decanting into a storage container, as it's a very fine textured powder. But the freshness and taste is brilliant (I personally am quite fine with a little "bitter" in my beverages) - especially if you're thinking of using as a replacement for coffee. Overall I'm a very happy customer and I will be subscribing to this product from the following month onwards ❤️
