Exceeded expectations
Moved my television from a wall position to freestanding at the opposite end of the room. First thing I noticed was the sound needed to be turned up a lot higher for good sound quality now that it wasn't backed by a wall. Also, the sound was actually louder behind the tv than in front of it. Was looking for an inexpensive sound bar to add to the front of the tv when I happened across this amplifier set. This is exactly what I needed and they work great and installed easily. How well did they work - before adding them I had to have the tv on 32 in order to understand people speaking (sounded more like 50 on the backside of the tv). Now I can have the tv set at 17, I do have some age related hearing issues, and hear it clearly and the sound going out the back is now muted. Also, I only paid $15 for these so I felt the price was right as well.

Perhaps having sound-cancelling stippling on its surface is a bad idea?
Doesn't do a thing. In fact, it almost sounds *more* muffled than before, dialogue included. (2013 Sony KDL-60R550A). I wonder if part of the problem is that it sits far enough back because of the thickness of the TV at that point under the down-firing speakers that it's not hitting the curve part right? But in any case, it should make /some/ positive difference and I'm not hearing anything at all. And having a roughed up surface might hide reflections, but it can't be great for sound. Ask a person who installs hardwood floors. Sound echos loudest *after* the floors have been treated and are polished. I will experiment with smoothing out the surface with tape or plastic just to investigate.

Products works, installation materials are a bit lacking
Simple product, and like others have said, I would have spent more money than this, plus time, trying to do the same thing. The product works. My frustration is with the sticky velcro squares that come with it to attach the scoops to the TV. These never hold up for more than a day. Larger strips of velcro, possibly Elmer's or E6000 glued to the tv might be a better answer, and I will need to try that soon. I realize the back of every TV is a little different. "clank" -- I just head one scoop fall now after pressing it back on not 10 minutes ago! I'm glad this particular TV is not hanging on the wall, with possibly photographs or knick-knacks on a console below it! Because they would all be broken by now!

Cheap, simple, and effective.
Actually works. I have no problem with paying $15 for such a simple item .... it's packaged with a commercial label, has an instruction sheet, Velcro tabs, and a couple of alcohol wipes for degreasing before installing the plastic reflectors. It takes only a few minutes to get these attached to the back of your television, so there's not much to it. Well, surprise, these things do exactly what they're supposed to do. They effectively redirect those lousy little downward facing TV speakers so the sound is directed forward, towards the viewer. That makes for a louder and clearer sound, although it doesnโt turn your TV into some super sound machine. You will still be limited by the quality of your speakers and the audio quality of the broadcast. Overall though, there is a noticeable improvement in the listening experience. As an aside, I have tried several sound bars over the years in an effort to improve the clarity of TV audio. While most will greatly improve the bass response and music quality, I have found none that really do much for speech clarity ... regardless of settings. This $15 plastic set does more for that aspect of TV sound than anything else I've yet tried. It's not a miracle, and it won't help much with really muffled audio, but it does offer a significant improvement over the typical stock speaker setup.

Excellent sound redirection device
Easy to install and works as described. This is not a sound amplification device. If you are looking for it to increase the volume or amplify the volume or sound coming out of your television, you will be disappointed. This is a sound redirection device, and it works as described. It redirected the sound of my TV from going straight down on my stand to out to me so I can actually hear it. I have been able to decrease the volume at which I have my television because the sound is redirected towards my ears and not to the floor. This is an inexpensive solution to a problem that could cost me $100 or more if I purchase a sound bar. Great purchase overall.

Velcro fasteners only lasted a few hours
As soon as we received the Amplifier set, we put them on our bedroom TV so we wont have the sound directed throughout the house. I made sure to follow the instructions to the letter even using the alcohol swabs to make sure the TV surface was clean. Once we put them on, we noticed a markedly improved sound in the room, but by late that evening, 1 piece fell off and we put it back on. When we woke up the next morning, both amps had fallen off the TV.

What it is and what it is not
Let us try to figure this out. The underlying principle of this device is as old as the invention of the trumpet or more to the point the hearing aids of a long forgotten time, which looked just like reversed trumpets. They are no longer around, which hinds to the fact, that technology has evolved. This said, the principle is a valid, but a limited one. There is nothing you can do to enhance the bad quality of your build-in loudspeakers (flat screen) other than adding a sound bar or a complete audio system. By simply reflecting the sound it does not get better. But here is what these little flaps can do. In my case I have a small guest bedroom with a wall mounted flat screen whose speakers reflect all the way down to the floor, as there is no space for a sideboard. The sound has to travel some mysterious ways until it reaches the ear of someone on the bed. In my experience the middle level of our hearing spectrum suffers the most on this journey. As a result, following conversations in a movie against a noisy background becomes very (very!) difficult. After installing the two reflectors I noticed a truly distinct improvement, which led to a significant reduction of the necessary loudspeaker amplification. Serious, this simple solution helped. Problem solved! But!! You have to try it out, if this is working for your situation. You also want to play around with the audio settings of your TV to maximize the effect. Chances are, that in a bigger room, with furniture under the TV the improvements are to negligible to verify. However, at 20 bucks what do you have to lose?

Works as expected
This is such a silly product but I couldn't come up with a way to make my own. You get a couple of slightly curved plastic pieces and some Velcro to stick them to the back of your TV. First off, make sure your speakers are actually on the bottom of your TV and not on the back. I used a mirror and flashlight to search along the bottom until I could see the speaker cone behind the vents. Then attach the plastic so they "scoop" the sound out towards the front. I noticed a definite increase in treble, which is expected because high frequencies are very directional, almost to the point of sibilance. This is great if you are a little hard of hearing because the highs go first. The installation would be easier if they supplied a strip of Velco instead of two tiny squares because that doesn't solidly attach the scoops and it is hard to adjust their position once stuck. The Velcro is so strong it typically peels both pieces off instead of separating them. But the scoops do the job, just keep your expectations realistic.
