I have to say that I am impressed with the quality of the Leick Mission Mantel Bookcase. Over the years I have been very disappointed with "bolt together" furniture products. They are usually made with cheap composite wood products that are not very sturdy, sag, chip and are usually inconsistent in color. Often times the back panel is "cardboard". This bookcase was packed beautifully and arrive unscathed. It is very easy to assemble and quality hardware is provided. The color is consistent and it is made with a non-specified hardwood. The VISIBLE surfaces are oak veneer over quality plywood. The back is 6mm Oak veneer plywood NOT CARDBOARD. The color is consistent and the overall finish is excellent. This is an excellent piece of furniture, reasonably priced made with quality materials. I did purchase this on sale. The standard price is still reasonable for the quality provided.

Fabulous piece of furniture. Easy to assemble. Needed the second shelf for the DVD/VCR. Looks good and matches another table I have by Leick. Totally recommend.

Exactly the dimensions and mission style I was looking for! Took some time and perseverance going through all the tables offered for sale both on Amazon and other online stores including some brick and mortar. It paid off with this table! Mixed reviews made me feel apprehensive but once I got it set up I was thrilled! Maybe I'm just fortunate to have gotten a good one. My table is flawless. Even coloring, striking wood grain details, no marks or wood scrapes...stands without wobbling and holds a lot of weight comfortably. My only gripe about it is that I don't need the drawer Lol. The drawer, by the way, is not as small as other reviewers may imply. It's a reasonable size and depth. The slides work smoothly and it is centered properly. The shelf is adjustable which I like too. It's a sturdy, handsome piece of furniture for a mission style vibe. As a side note: I bought this table and shortly after the price jumped up roughly $70 afterwards. At the price I bought it, I thought it was pricey and I hated spending the $$$ but it was exactly what I needed in size so I went for it. At the higher price, I don't know...I may have gotten it because it was the perfect size but I would have resented having to spend so much EVEN if I didn't know it was much cheaper a week ago. Shame on Leick furniture for raising the price so much.

Overall, this product is reasonable for the price. It does appear to be true to its promise of being made of wood solids and veneers, and it looks like it will last well. The finish is fairly good, and the layout of the piece is great - it makes a very handy work table, end table, or console unit with plenty of flexibility. I've got two pairs of eyeglasses, a remote control for the TV, a knitting bag, piles of work papers, a computer mouse and external hard drive, charger cables, textbooks, and light reading stashed in mine, and it's all tidy and accessible with the glasses out of range of a dog who thinks they are chew toys. ;) The downside is that small things are often done hastily or cheaply . For instance, the finish looks great from above, but if you're eye-level you can see that the under surfaces of nearly all pieces are not fully finished. The single drawer has a groove cut to make it look like two drawers; that groove is rough and poorly finished. The assembly is a bit of a pain because there is just barely room to get some of the screws in ... meaning that there is almost no room to turn the alan key and you have to proceed by many quarter-turns to tighten the screws. The bottom shelf of my unit came with a mark right in the middle that was the first thing I saw when I unpacked the pieces. It's not enough of a problem to send it back, but it's annoying to unpack a brand-new piece of furniture that already has a mark on it. Overall, four stars for "It'll do, but this feels like a bit of a lower price point item."

Very pleasantly surprised with the quality and appearance of these bookcases. And they were super easy to assemble! Simple instructions with only eight screws. It took about 10 minutes to assemble the first bookcase and five minutes to assemble the second one. Excellent value for the price.

This piece of furniture is beautiful, solid wood, and made with great care. It was very easy to put together, and I will enjoy it for many years! I would highly recommend this seller, I was so happy with a purchase that I made from them that I ended up buying 3 more pieces which are also gorgeous.

15 months later the handle breaks and it’s impossible to find another. The hardware used is Leick specific, rendering the furniture useless when it breaks. This drawer was used lightly. Otherwise, it’s a nice product.

The Leick Foyer Bookcase (30") arrived a day earlier than scheduled. The five pieces of the unit were extremely well-packed and there was no damage to the structure or finish. The table is made of solid wood & metal and is very sturdy. If your home is like mine the assembly of put-it-together-yourself furniture can be an all-day affair accompanied by much moaning and wailing and gnashing of teeth. However, this table went together quite easily. The five pieces consist of the table top/drawer unit, two metal sides and two wooden shelves. A mere twelve screws securely attach all the pieces together. The bottom shelf is fixed while the middle shelf can be installed at your choice of three positions. Installed in the center there is 8.5" of space from the bottom shelf to the underside of the middle shelf and another 8.5" from the top of the middle shelf to the bottom of the drawer. The other two positions will raise or lower the center shelf by approximately 2". You may change the position easily at any time by lifting off the shelf and re-positioning the four headless screws. The table's four legs have screw-type leveling feet built in. I found this unit by searching "mission style table" and while the clean lines do indeed suggest the mission/shaker/craftsman style I would be more inclined to call it "traditional." It would certainly complement many types of decor. What you see in the product photos is precisely what you get. Several reviews of Leick products mentioned a strong smell filling the room upon opening the box. I noticed no such smell though if I brought a wooden piece up right under my nose -- like a child sniffing a bottle of vanilla extract -- there was a slight chemical smell which may have been from stain. Since I could imagine no likely scenario which would bring my nose that close to the table again I proceeded with assembly. I may have been lucky or the smell could be more pronounced on other Leick products. Whatever the case may be, it is something to keep in mind since other reviewers have had some rather extreme reactions. Condensed version for the busy Amazon shopper: I would buy this product again and would definitely look for other Leick items should I need additional pieces of furniture at this price point in the future.
