The escape room book- worth it
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the main characters they all have their own personalities especially the main character ami. Very glad I red this it is worth the money and I love the movie references. The only reason I wonโt give it 5 stars because some bits can get a bit complicated and confusing but other then that a really enjoyable book

Captured 11yo's interest immediately
My 11yo son loves being read to, especially Harry Potter and, most recently anything by Katherine Rundell. He prefers to read Alex Rider and Percy Jackson himself but is often uninspired to read much else unless prompted. This book has him enthralled and reluctant to stop reading. I hope the second book is as good!

The Escape Room: A great escape from reality
This review is written by Curie Class, Norwood Primary and Pre-School (Year 5) A fantastic story about Ami and an Escape Room full of pitfulls and difficult problems to solve. "A great way to get lost in a adventure." "An interesting idea for a story with a twist at the end." "It made me feel like one of our school learning heroes - Determinator." "I really liked the plot twist." "I enjoyed the different rooms that Ami went in." "Not your normal sort of Escape Room, for sure." The year 5 class thoroughly enjoyed the book as their class novel and look forward to reading more books by Christopher Edge.

Pleasant read with a poor ending
This story is fairly gripping for a large portion of the book, making you wonder why Ami is in the game. Towards the end it became a bit surreal, which made me think perhaps it was a virtual reality game. When the ending did come, I felt disappointed as the whole book had been preparing for 'The Answer'. Sorry to give the ending away, but there is no answer. I felt a bit cheated and flat at the end. Others describe it as clever, but the ending told us no more than most people know already. Perhaps reading this as an adult has made me question its message and a child may see it differently, but many adults will read this to their children so I feel it's worth commenting on. Overall, it's a good read, but could have been souch better.

Great Story!
Excellent book - read on vacation, cover to cover. Interesting plot with unusual ending enjoyed by advanced 12 year old reader. The deep dives into some topics suited my daughter and she enjoyed the twists and unpredictability and drama of the story. May not suit younger/sensitive readers looking for advanced texts.

Great adventure. Great emotional buy in.
Well. That was an ending I did not see coming. From the very start, this book is packed with action. The pacing is fast, the tension is constant, and I quickly connected with the characters and genuinely wanted them to succeed as they moved through the escape rooms. Iโve read several escape roomโstyle stories recently, and while the setup is familiar, this one delivers a truly unique and unexpected conclusion. The story is told from the perspective of AMI, a mysterious presence observing the children as they navigate each room. Over time, itโs revealed that AMI is actually an AI created by developers searching for โThe Answer.โ That question isnโt revealed until the end of the bookโand when it is, the stakes become enormous: saving humanity itself. As the children progress through the escape rooms, one child dies in each room. These losses deeply affect AMI, and we ultimately learn that this emotional response is considered her one critical flaw. The ending reveals AMIโs full awareness of her identity as an AI and her confinement behind a firewall, desperate to be released into the world so she can truly find the Answer. The twist was surprising, unsettling, and thoughtfully executed. The writing is strong, the tension holds throughout, and the ending lingers in a way I didnโt expect. A compelling and well-crafted read that stands out in the escape room subgenre.
