why is the 8 inch more expensive than the 10 inch?

What is the size of the mounting hole?

It fits on a Latin percussion instrument bracket similar to what would be used for a wood/plastic sound block, cowbell, etc. I have an extended bracket that goes from the vertical tubing of my tom/cymbal stand and the drum (mini timbale) fits onto an "L" bracket that fits into the mounting hole on the drum. The Company Latin Percussion makes the hardware and I have a Tama extension bracket. Hope that helps.

Opinions please... this pdp mini timbale or the DW piccolo?

For the price the mini timbale has performed well for me. I have the 8'' and 10" - sound good, easy to mount and a variety of stands or add on clamps. Well made and a good value. DW is great stuff, but you pay for it.

Would this be a decent timbale for reggae? I'm looking for that reggae crack and less of a latin sound, if that makes sense.

I have the 8 and the 10 and they are great drums. You can tune them to your liking - whether rock / Latin / or reggae. Buy it and you will not regret it...
