NO ENGLISH PLUG

This comes with a US plug and is specifically only compatible with 110V (Aus is 240V), - not dual power, so a simple plug adapter isn't sufficient. I need to arrange a step down transformer etc to get this to work. I bought from amazon.com.au so I would have expected items listed to be compatible with Aus power, or make it VERY clear that a step down transformer is required for it to work. I haven't had the chance to test the actual product due to messing around trying to get a transformer. Sigh.

I've used this for two winters now and it works perfectly. It is a very hard plastic pad with a thin fleece cover on it, but for outdoor cats, its fine. One of the things I like the most about it is that its only warm when there's a cat on the pad. When the cat isn't on it, there is a very slight warmth (like room temp), so its not ice cold, but when the cat lays on it, it heats up. Great for saving electricity. The first year I used it, it was in a custom built shelter in my unheated garage. The cat that was using it spent many nights in the box with no complaints. Halfway through the winter she transitioned to an indoor/outdoor cat and ended up spending several nights in the garage when she didn't come home before I went to bed. Now she's fat and lazy and only catches the mice that make it in the house. However, two new strays have moved into my pole barn, so I moved the pad into one of the houses I have out there. The pad is a little small for the house, but still works fine, and one of the cats has started spending all night in the house. The fact that its plastic with an easily removable cover is a plus since one of the male cats sprayed inside the house. All I had to do was wipe down the plastic pad, and wash the cover and it was good to go. I don't think this is a good hot pad for indoor cats because they're used to softer things, but the outdoor cats seem to appreciate it when the temps are in the negative numbers and there's two feet of snow on the ground.

We built an insulated cat shelter for our feral rescue. This heated cat pad keeps the interior of the shelter warm and cozy. I check on it often, very impressed with the consistent temperature! The pad came with a sherpa pad that attaches with elastic on the corners. It is white, so you may want to opt for the cover if you want to keep it from getting too dirty. A thin blanket overtop would probably do the same job though.
