This was needed as the builders, as usual, did a total "bare minimum" job installing our deck railing. I've never had to do this before but it's super easy. You WILL need a tool like this to securely fasten the wire to the hardware. If you have this kind of deck railing, having this tool on hand will save you a ton of time and money. I promise you (professional handy-men, go ahead and stop reading now), you do NOT need to pay someone to repair a wire that has come loose. If you can use a tape measure and have any strength to squeeze a grip, this tool will allow you to repair (and even install from the beginning) a wire railing system.Seems very well built and should outlast me. Very pleased with the purchase.

If I was a professional electrician doing this for a living I would not recommend these. With that said for somebody who makes a few crimps a year or is doing a large solar system you can't go wrong. Plenty of YouTube videos on these if you'd like to see them in action.I personally depend very heavily on reviews that are posted on Amazon, as do many other consumers. I not only read what reviewers say, but look to see what their pictures reveal about a products true quality and description. I bought this crimping tool for use on quick disconnect fittings. I have a quick disconnect on my truck for a winch and jumper cables. I learned the hard way that cables cannot be soldered into the fittings and get a good power supply. Unknown to me solder is not a good conductor or electricity. My f250 with a high output alternator couldn't jump start little 4 cylinder engines. I used this crimping tool to reconnect my wires to the quick disconnect. The process was straight forward and easy. All my connections are now cramped with no solder. Now I just need to find somebody with a dead battery. The tool did come with several assorted sizes of dies for different sizes of fittings and a plastic storage case. I would buy again if needed.

I just received the crimper today so I haven't had a chance to use it, but the unit seems to be very well made.

This tool is a must if you are putting up wire railing. Very easy to use to crimp the screw ends on the wires. Good quality tool that comes with several different sizes to crimp all typically used wire.
