For the 2-1/8 brush, are you saying the length between the outside edge of the bristle if you measure it between your index finger and your thumb?

2 1/8" was measured with a ruler and references the brushes barrel size. A bigger barrel is recommended for long hair and a small barrel for short.

What is the difference between heat pro and the ceramic and ion brush?

The main difference between the HeatPro and the Ceramic + Ion brushes is that the HeatPro can withstand EXTREME HEAT up to 550F! The Ceramic + Ion can handle plenty of heat as well, up to 450F but HeatPro can take it 100 degrees higher. Both have a ceramic barrel but the HeatPro ceramic barrel has some copper in it which helps further with quickly heating up and even distribution. Hope it helps!

My hairdresser said to get the 'rose-gold' and not the 'gold' brush as the former is newer and works better...wonder if this is it??

I have both and prefer the rose gold. It works better if you are using it on your own hair. The gold one gets hot too hot on the end to handle effectively on your own hair. The rose gold has a different end cap that doesn't get too hot to touch.
