Is this suitable to run a domestic fridge with no icebox

Way to much if you only want to run a domestic fridge I have a Victron 500watt running a fridge and chest freezer no problems at all

This is intended to be used connected to 6 x 200ah batteries with 9 x 380w solar panels as the charging source + a charge controller, will it work?

Depends what it is powering eg 800 watt microwave uses about 3000 Watts on startup

Can you connect the invertor directly to the house 240v AC domestic supply to reduce the power drawn from the mains supply

You could make a consumer unit in the house with its own set of plugs in places so the 4000w will be available anywere in the house, take note that kitchen appliances will eat up 4000w pretty quick, dont run adaptors all over the place strip Adaptors are limited to 3120w., but the other comments are correct do not connect directly to the house, get a qualified electrician that knows about renewable system setups, to advise you on that part.

will the 4000w/8000w version actually output 4000w continuous on ac terminal or a single uk outlet? thanks in advance

Please remember the inverter is only as good as the power supply you use 35% of the input power is used by the inverter, no you will not get 4000 watts. Also an 800 watt microwave uses about 3000 Watts on startup and would run down your battery very quickly hope it helps
