Terrific Book: Perfect for Anyone who Loves/Hates Walmart!
The Walmart Cashier, an insider's view of Wal-Mart, is a must-read for anyone who considers working or shopping at Walmart, and managers anywhere who care about customer service and employee satisfaction. Its lively account of life inside the box reads fast, easy, funny, and poignant. Author and Walmart cashier Ronn Medow is a terrific writer who, through richly told customer and colleague anecdotes, analyzes and explains, in lay terms, Walmart's management philosophy of mediocrity. We learn that the Walton Family's ga-zillion dollar cash cow could make even more money if it listens occasionally to the voices of its customers and employees. Highly, highly recommend. The Walmart Cashier is simply that good!

Highly recommended! I initially bought this book as a means of showing support to a fellow Reno resident -- I often shopped at Walmart, and chose Ronn's checkout line whenever possible, since he was such a pleasant and enjoyable person. I bought the book, but procrastinated on actually reading it. Then my daughter got a job as a cashier at the same Walmart, so my interest became more personal, and I finally started the book. And what a great read it turned out to be! Not only was the book very well-written, but it was also interesting, insightful, entertaining, and genuinely funny. Great job, Ronn! Kudos to you for actually doing something that the vast majority of people only daydream about (writing a book, not working at Walmart!). My husband (who also enjoyed it) and I will be looking forward to the sequel!Side note A: With a daughter working at Walmart, a son working at Sears, and of course, thanks to Ronn's book, my eyes have been opened to a whole new world -- the world of working in retail. Perhaps the customer is always right (perhaps), and naturally, customers should always be treated with basic courtesy, but please remember -- that works both ways. What the folks at the registers deal with on a daily basis can be quite unbelievable! Regardless of which side of the checkstand we're on, let's all be kind -- it doesn't take that much effort, and it makes everyone's day better.Side note B: Ronn, please stop tormenting yourself about the Eloi and the Morlocks :)Side note C: You deserve a raise!

2-star book
This book is a pretty quick read - that's about the best thing I can say about it. The writing wasn't great. The stories - where they had so much potential - fell flat. Obscure (and boring details) were stretched out for way too long.

Boring
So boring! I mean the trivia stuff was blah, blah blah. Wasted a chapter. Sped to the end. So thankful it was free. I worked to them too, so I know better stuff happens. 0 stars would be the perfect review rating. Please put down the pen and go back to the register.
