Not really, it's a standard Military 7 day bag, which means unfolded it's about 30 inches deep in a cylindrical shape, with the opening about a foot by a foot at the top. Folded up it may be 15x12 inches though.

Is it that heavy military canvas or that lame cordura stuff?

Most are made of the durable cordura duck nylon canvas. The older bags made of heavy duty canvas are often hard to find.
