Easy to use, excellent quality!
I've been on the search for some time now for an all-in-one type stereo. I had a very difficult time finding many units that offer CD player, Bluetooth and radio anymore- most of what I found was either very cheaply made or too expensive for my needs. I will disclose that I am not a sound expert; some people really know their audio equipment and I'm not one of them. However, I am a music lover and wanted to be able to listen to various mediums in one machine with the best sound quality possible...at a reasonable price! This system was in my price range and is of exceptional quality. I was amazed upon unpacking at how solid it was- a rare quality these days! The Bluetooth pairing is simple as can be. We have it stationed for use in our kitchen/dining room/living room area. It has deep, full sound that easily fills this larger area of my home. It has an attractive, versatile design that goes with any style of home without being an eyesore or taking up too much room. We've been using it daily for about a month now and couldn't be happier with the purchase. This all in one system replaced our Bluetooth speaker, radio and DVD player we had been using to play CDs. It does all of these things exceptionally. I would highly recommend.

A very nice bookshelf system with a great deal of flexility and room filling sound.
I am very happy with this unit. It has everything I needed including bluetooth so I can push music to it without plugging things in (iOS and macOS tested). It was one of the few with both an AM and FM radio. It also includes the antennas to improve reception. They provided some speaker cables as well that are a generous length. The remote is even useful and does many helpful things. I put mine in some bookshelves and mounted the speakers up high away from the main unit. The sound is solid. Good frequency range with round bass. The speakers are surprisingly heavy which is good because they will push more sound out. I have not tested the USB connection to see if I can put in a thumb drives of MP3s but I suspect it will work as well. We have wanted something like this for a long time and finally have it. For the price, they packed in a lot of nice features other units did not have.

It's almost perfect for the price
I needed to replace a 15 year old unit that I simply wasn't using much because the CD door always needed to be pried open and the tuner was never that good. It was kinda buried behind the 55" TV too. So now that I've moved the TV it's out with the old and in with the new. I just received, unboxed and set it up which took under 30 minutes. It was well packed and the documentation made setup easy. The only problem I had with setup was the unit ships with little round peel and stick rubber feet for each component. That should mean 12 but I only received 11. Simple solution for me was to not install them on the speakers. The next step was to work my way through the various options after attaching the speakers and powering up. I was particularly concerned about audio quality, programming response, tuner sensitivity and response to the remote. These were all things that others had been critical of in reviews. I'm not an audiophile but my unit does not have the mushy sound that others have commented negatively about. Certainly the source has an impact on that but I have tested AM/FM, Bluetooth, and CD and each met my expectations. I tested the CD with a Manheim Steamroller CD and it sounded great. It is only 15 watts per channel so it doesn't rattle the windows of the 14'x28' room it's in but I never expected it would. As far as the tuner response, I only used it from the remote and it was slow, but it worked much faster when I held the button down and let it scan. I am not a tuner turner so again, no problem here after I learn how to program the presets. As far as tuner sensitivity again I am pleased. I tuned it to several stations in both bands and I would generally feel that it is better than a Boston Acoustic and two Sangean radios I own. The response to the remote isn't bad either. On the receive side it does have a narrow beam but my unit seems to work over a broader range than the 30 degrees mentioned in the manual. While trying to figure out how to operated the CD from the remote it seemed to work just fine from about 8 feet even though I was accidentally pointing it 180 degrees out. So mostly I like it. The greatest fault I would give would be for the remote. The buttons are small and crowded and very hard to read as are the buttons on the front of the console. The buttons are also not real good about giving one the tactile feedback to assure that you have pushed it well enough. Those things have kept me from giving it 5 stars.

Way too expensive for what you get.
Barely acceptable for the money. That's how I would describe this unit. It was purchased for my mother, who mostly listens to her CDs in her bedroom in the mornings while getting ready. She had a 20+ year old Philips CD clock/radio/alarm that was left over from my days in college. Great unit that has served daily duty now for 20+ years. It finally gave up the ghost this past week, and I was immediately searching for something a little nicer in sound quality as an option or just settle for a regular CD/radio unit as the old one was. Surprisingly, hardly anyone makes CD/radio/alarm systems any more. Today MP3/iPod style players with clock/radio/alarm functionality are the norm. This is beyond my mother's technical ability. Thus I was forced to move "upmarket," or more precisely, upwards in price to look for mini-systems with CD players. There's not many. There's a GPX unit on Amazon that sells pretty cheap but it gets middling reviews and looks too complicated to use. Most of the others are far more expensive than this Pioneer unit. Thus knowing Pioneer as a solid brand, I took a stab. Pros: The unit looks nice and sleek. The speakers are actually separates and use traditional speaker wire (included). It offers CD, AM/FM, Bluetooth, Aux, and other input sources. It has proper, separate FM and AM antennae hookups. It has a simple interface and a clear screen. And it is relatively compact. Plus the sound quality is actually pretty good for such a small system. Cons: The wires are short, especially the power cord. The included FM antenna does not have the right connector/adapter for the FM antenna input on the back. Worst of all, the volume/output is pitiful. At maximum volume it was barely loud enough to fill a 12' x 12' bedroom with sound and it was very easy to hold a quiet conversation over the music while it was playing. Not only did we not need to raise our voices to be heard, we could actually whisper and be heard clearly. As mentioned, the quality of the sound is actually good, but considering the size of the speakers, I was expecting much more than this. Your average bluetooth rechargeable speaker would put out far more volume than this does maxed out. If I had it to do again, I wouldn't purchase this model. I'd either go more expensive or go with the cheap GPX and see. This will service for now, but it's certainly underwhelming for the price. It ought to be under $50 for this level of performance.

High quality sound and appearance!
This stereo is even better than what I had hoped for! Low profile, quality sound, lots of input options! I love that it connects with my phone or watch super fast for Bluetooth and my 5-year-old handles switching the input with no problems. Programming the FM stations into memory was not totally obvious (I did not read the manual at all) but once you get the hang of it is super quick and O programmed 18 stations (not sure how many more we could have done but 18 is all that came in of what we’ll listen to). I first located a station, chose to program it, then had to scroll up/down to chose which number I wanted it programmed as. The speaker wire it comes with isn’t the longest, but I keep the speakers close so it wasn’t a big deal. The stereo and speakers really look classy. I had it planned to tuck into a shelf, but when it arrived I really wanted to display it somewhere visible since it really looks nice! I had to wait quite some time for it, but it was well worth the wait.

buy extra warranty
bought one, lasted 3 weeks but looks great with good sound. Electronic "brain" malfunctions. Sent it back. Got another: played one track then would never play again. So, that is 2 malfunctions for 2 purchases. Something is not right here, or I am very unlucky.

Nice clear sound with options to adjust to your listening preference.
Great sound for compact size. I had an old compact shelf stereo system that was on it's last legs. Although that had more volume, it sound quality is about the same (or less) and that unit was over $500 (several years ago) I would give this 4 1/2 stars if I could, as there are some areas of improvement. The remote is light plastic and feels like it could be improved greatly on its durability. Also the Bluetooth is great and connects via my Alexa, but it takes a while for the unit to connect when in sleep mode. The last thing is it is supposed to have auto off, but for some reason when connected to Alexa (or Bluetooth) I can't get it to shut down automatically. I have went through the setup to make sure that feature is on, but for some reason can't make it work. This is not a deal breaker though and when you couple it with the clear sound and Bluetooth connectivity, makes this a great system for my needs.

I am disappointed with the sound quality
I purchased this to replace a 15 year old stereo I got when I was a teenager. I wanted something more compact and aesthetic, preferably with a cd player. This fits that description. However, for the price, I am a bit disappointed with the sound quality. To me, the sound seems to lack depth, almost hollow maybe. I was really hopeful that in the past 15 years there had been progress made toward packing decent sound into a smaller system at a reasonable price (dreaming of a bose, but I'm too cheap). I'm unsure if I will be keeping this system or not. UPDATE: I picked up a Philips Micro Music System at my local Walmart for about half the price. The sound quality is far superior. The footprint is similar, though it's look is less sleek. This, however, is a tradeoff I'm willing to make to have a system that I will enjoy listening to. Bottom line- if fitting your system into your decor is most important, this product may work for you. If you're looking for quality sound, save yourself some money and get something different. https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Streaming-Bluetooth-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B00PJM4SKC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486756501&sr=8-1&keywords=philips+micro+music+system

So far so good, the sound quality is descent. the unit just takes a longer time (than expected) to start, but it's not a big deal.
