Does it have to be plugged in to turn on for the constellations? Or can it be charged and used without usb cable?

The globe requires to a usb cable to light up and you can find it in the 6th product photo. Anything which can power a usb cable will turn on the constellation.

Is there an adaptor available for this globe

I bought mine for a gift I think it came with a charger but if you’re asking can you buy another one sorry I don’t know

Do the consolations show up over the map or on a black background?

When the globe is lighted up, the constellations show up with a black background. (blue map is invisible due to the light)
