Mehron Makeup Skin Prep Pro Mattifying Skin Toner | Long Lasting Pre-Makeup Primer 4 fl oz (120 ml)

This toner works exceptionally well at mattifying the skin. It effectively reduces shine, leaving my skin with a smooth, matte finish. This makes it a perfect base for makeup, helping to keep my foundation in place throughout the day without becoming oily. The toner creates an excellent canvas for makeup application. It smooths out the skin’s texture and helps makeup adhere better and last longer. I noticed a significant improvement in the longevity of my makeup when using this product. The product is easy to apply. A little goes a long way, and it absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving any residue. It’s convenient to use, especially when preparing for a long day or a special event. One downside to this toner is that it can be a bit over drying. While it excels at reducing oiliness, it may be too harsh for those with dry or sensitive skin. I found that using it daily made my skin feel tight and dry. To mitigate this, I recommend using a good moisturizer after applying the toner and perhaps limiting its use to special occasions or particularly oily areas.

I absolutely love this product! I’ve used this product for a few months now and it has completely changed how my make up looks. I am in parades through throughout Mardi Gras and before I put on any makeup, I always soak a cotton ball with this clear liquid and wipe it all over my face. Adding this one step to my make up routine has made my make up last longer and look better. I constantly sweat during parades and my make up does not budge! I have extremely sensitive skin and this does not irritate whatsoever. It makes my skin feel a bit tight when first applied, but relaxes quickly. It does not take much for it to work. The photos I’ve attached to this review are proof that it works. This photo shoot was three hours of sweating in a very tight outfit and you can see my makeup did not budge! I recommend this to dancers, other performers, or other people visiting very hot and humid places.

I originally bought this for cosplay and have great results for all day wear. I have mature skin, (meaning dry) and now use this everyday. As I’ve gotten older primers started to “float” over those hills and letting my foundation settle in the valleys. I realized since it works so well with Mehron cream stick why wasn’t I using it daily? My makeup looks great and stays all day without settling in those fine lines. I also use the finishing powder and barrier spray depending on the day for adding longevity.

I have skin that gets oily throughout the day and this stuff totally works to help counter that. It makes your skin dry out and feel very tight before you move onto the next makeup layer, and it really helps foundation sticking and even application. Idk why people were complaining about it not coming with a spray nozzle-- it's better for precise application when dripped onto a cotton round. It only takes a couple drops, and you can always go for another wipe down if you're not feeling dry enough. PLUS, it doesn't burn your skin. Or at least, it didn't burn mine. I could even apply it around my eyes without any burning sensation. And makeup usually makes my eczema break out especially around my eyes, but this didn't irritate me like I thought it would. For 9+ hours of sweating and moving around, I'd say the makeup held up pretty well. I'm pretty sure the issues with makeup that I did experience throughout the day, was due to other products and user error (i.e. not applying enough powder in the right areas, not reapplying powder throughout the day, and not using enough setting spray) First three pics: from beginning of the day next 3: after my shift

I just wanted this because my skin is oily. It definitely mattifies & kind of makes your face feel tight, it kind of feels like im just putting straight alcohol on my face which worries me about how it's affecting my skin, so i don't think I'll use it daily. It does help me stay matte longer, but it's not a miracle worker. I'll have to see how well it holds up in the humid summertime. I got a more hydrating moisturizer to use with this, the haruharu black rice sunscreen. Those 2 items together work nicely as a primer. I don't need as much face powder. I use the matte UD all nighter setting spray

I never write customer reviews. Most of the time I am satisfied enough to enjoy a product without letting anyone else know, and if its bad just know not to purchase it again. But THIS. This product deserves its own. You know how you hear people say, "I'm so oily, ugh." That person, even if it's you--I'm probably more oily. Truthfully. I have tried evyerhing, high end primers, (love you becca stay matte you were the closest I could get,) low end primers, different skin care routines, heck even tried that trend where I put a liquid laxative on my face before applying makeup. ( Look up Milk of Magnesia on youtube, its a thing.) Switched skin care routines, bought a new pillowcase. I was in my twenties and had gotten to a point where I just resorted to blotting paper and having to reapply if I had something to attend to in the evening. UNTIL this. Never did I imagine a product would not only keep my skin matte but also keep my makeup in the SAME place all DAY LONG! Not a drop of oil. I mean it sucks up every lost drop. Now it WILL dry out your face, so make sure you have a good moisturizer you like. But I am in awe of this product. If you need ANY convincing, let my review be everything you need to know. From one oily girl to the next, BUY IT! You will be forever thankful that the days of blotting paper and greasiness are over, all because of this little black holy grail bottle.

As a skin prep or primer for costume make up this worked great and help up (I did use Mehron setting spray as well, however). However the claim that it stops sweating doesn’t really hold true. While applying my make up, as I sprayed it on a bit somehow hit my lip and part of tongue which instantly felt like the desert and tasted like I licked a deodorant stick lol. So I thought all would go to plan. And it did a great job of making my skin feel normal but keeping me from sweating during make up application and up until I got to the show and it was extremely hot and humid. I don’t feel like I was sweating any less than would be normal and I was having to pat myself down with a towel constantly when I wasn’t onstage. Also of note, the setting spray is meant to be cooling, which all setting sprays are, but is also meant to almost eliminate sweating. I reapplied the setting spray several times just to cool off. Still. Even though in was in the extreme heat and humidity of South Florida, where I wouldn’t expect anything to really stop sweating, I didn’t feel like my face was sweating any less than it would have been with nothing on my face. HOWEVER… at the end of the night, despite sweating and blotting with a towel constantly, I was the only cast member who didn’t look a mess. It definitely worked far beyond what I think setting spray alone would have done. I’ve never used the mehron setting spray that but I’ve never had a setting spray of any brand work to THAT degree. Stage make up is heavy and it still looked pretty great. After removing my make up, my skin wasn’t at all dry either. I don’t know how moisturizing it was but for a product that’s meant to be an antiperspirant, it was definitely not drying in the least. So I don’t feel like it actually inhibits sweating. However it’s an impressive primer and for stage make up nothing has ever worked better for me. I have to keep in mind that I was also using mehron’s setting spray which I say the same about. Didn’t affect sweating. But held up.

Excellent primer. Make up lasts longer. Dry skin will feel tight, just be ware that it might make smiling difficult. Apply sparingly if you want to leave room for smiling.

I saw this product advertised on a new show called the Good Dish. The stars of the show use this product to help keep their makeup in place for hours on end. I guess MANY professional makeup artists use this product for their clients. I thought I would give it a try and I love it. I use this product all the time when I wear makeup for special occassions. Keeps makeup in place and smooth for hours. When you apply it tightens up your skin.
