Works great
Good POE/ethernet tester. Used it to figure out the POE version coming out of an adapter. Also used it to figure out which twisted pairs were incorrectly lined up. Worked great.

Works well!
This POE checker paid for itself in its first use. It worked as described, and the instructions were good enough to ensure I was using it correctly. I have a bunch of externally installed POE cameras (monitored by Blue Iris). Every once in a while one goes out and I need to determine the source of the problem. Usually it's a camera, but sometimes, especially for cameras 150 feet away mounted on the stairs down to my dock, it could be a switch or cable problem. Or in one case for me, a bad connection in a barrel connector (for connecting two cables together). I had to analyze the worst case today and this meter saved me multiple trips down to the dock. Using its continuity tester I was able to determine that cable segments were still good. Using the POE tester I was able to determine power was getting to the dock, and it was 47+ volts, still good enough to power a POE cam. That left the camera, which had gone out. Without this tester I wouldn't have known that my segmented cabling was not involved in the failure. This tester will be put to use again, I'm sure. POE cams and outdoor cable runs have their failures.

Passes data
Didn't see it mentioned anywhere, but in case you're wondering this does pass data during PoE testing. Even if unit is powered off. Important to know because things like cameras, etc can draw more power once fully booted + communicating. Overall it's *fine*. I'm glad it has a screwless battery door, so I can pull the batteries between uses (to prevent leakage). Display is extremely hard to read without the backlight on - you can adjust contrast which helps. On the continuity check I wish it'd show an overall "pass" (or "crossover"). Maybe it flashes or something if there's an open or miswire but for good cables you do have to inspect all the pin mappings to know if it's correct. Minor niggle. I probably continue to use my Ideal continuity checker just because it's 9V so I can leave the battery in more comfortably and the remote module stores in the body. Too easy to loose this one. For the price it's a good endpoint checker, but today most PoE switches have built in power monitoring so it's only partly useful in my opinion.

This takes out all the guesswork
I've had an Ethernet cable tester for years. It was just fine for what it does. That said, this does what that did and a whole lot more. With POE there are other issues to contend with, especially if you use a POE powered switch. Now I know how many watts are going through each cable and don't worry about overloading a switch.

Easy to use
Product was very easy to use and understand results. I had installed 32 Cat6 connectors first day and had 3 that showed faults. and also showed which end of termination was faulting, saving troubleshooting time and I was able to quickly make repairs to correct termination and completed job.

Did not work right out of the box!!
I bought this unit not needing it right away. I did not open until I needed it. when I did put batteries in it and use it it does not work. I have watched numerous videos to make sure I am using it correctly and the cables and switch that I am using is working properly by testing them with other equipment I have. All is good EXCEPT this tester. Unfortunately for me I waited too long to use it and can not return it. I would not recommend this product. Stay away! Junk!!

Great little tester
I am very happy I picked this tool up. I run alot of ethernet cable of alot of different projects, one being POE cameras and needed to test the POE output and this was able to do that at a great price point compared to alot of other testers out there. Has lots of functions to only need one tester to carry around. Came in a nice carrying case to protect it and increase it's longevity on the job. Found it easy to simple to use.

Great hobby RJ45 POE Tester
Considered buying the Klein tools tester but the base model ($80 CAD) doesn't support POE testing without jumping to the $250 unit (too much money for a general hobby tool). Bought this for my smaller home rj45 cat5e setup to get going and I'm glad I did as the price point is great for what you get. Might consider the Klein if I were to get into a business/career doing this type of stuff but this tester is great for the general usage. Created 8 different cat5e cables with four of them being 100ft+ and for POE applications and this tester read them out all good, the one crimp error I made on one strand showed open and correct on the tester. Came with a nice little carrying bag but would have been happier if it came in a blown-moulded hard shell case. Other reviewers complained about the build quality, it seems good enough to me but wouldn't want to drop it from a big height (obviously with any digital tool). Perhaps if it even came with a silicone case it would be even better. Am happy I bought this with the digital screen readout than those ultra cheap $20-30 ones you see everywhere in the shoddy kits that only have small led's flashing.
