- Goodbye sore thumbs! The only way to remove 1" fittings.
If you have ever wrestled with a 3/4" or 1" SharkBite fitting using those cheap little orange plastic clips, you know the "plumberโs pain." I bought the iCrimp CRQ02 after spending twenty minutes fighting a corroded fitting in a tight crawlspace. It changed the job instantly. The Highlights: Mechanical Advantage: It works like a pair of pliers. Instead of shoving your thumb into a sharp plastic ring, you just squeeze. The tool applies perfectly even pressure to the release collar. Built Like a Tank: This isn't flimsy. Itโs heavy-duty steel. It feels like a professional tool that will last for years. True Multi-Size: Switching between the 1/2", 3/4", and 1" inserts is quick. Itโs great having one tool in the bag that handles all three main residential sizes. Tight Spaces: While the tool is larger than a clip, the leverage it provides actually makes it easier to use in awkward spots because you only need one hand to operate the clamp. A Quick Tip: If the fitting is old and stubborn, push the pipe into the fitting slightly while you squeeze the tool. This resets the internal grab ring and makes it slide right off. The Bottom Line: If you are doing a one-off 1/2" repair, you might not need this. But if you are doing a full remodel or working with 1" pipe, don't even hesitate. It saves your hands, your time, and your sanity. Pros: Professional build, works on "stuck" fittings, saves your fingers. Cons: A bit pricier than plastic clips, but pays for itself in avoided frustration.

Research first
It works for the pex push connect fittings. I have already put it to the test

Fixed in a jiffy
I plumbed my house using the push-to-connect fittings in order to make changes or repairs easier to manage. The little plastic horseshoe tools are very cumbersome to use in tight spaces. If the connection has been buried or exposed to the elements for an extended period of time, this tool will usually make the task easier to complete. However, I experienced a couple of difficult situations where nothing could remove the fittings. I am not a professional plumber, so I can't provide any professional opinions on this tool. I can say, without a doubt, that this tool is a great addition to anyone that has this type of fittings in their plumbing. IT DOES WORK WELL. It can be hard to squeeze but it depends on the condition of the fitting. Some of these fittings are expensive, so saving just 2 fittings will cover the cost of the tool. Needless to say, this tool has already paid for itself. I highly recommend this tool. The construction is of very good quality. The tool functions easily, allowing for reduced stress (mentally and physically). If you think you might need this, buy it. You'll be glad to have it on hand one of those super cold winter days when you have to repair a water connection quickly. Build quality: Steel construction with quality welds Ease of use: Easy squeeze tool operation Fit: Fits 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, and 1 inch fittings Works well: Works very well on sheltered fittings. Requires patience and manipulation of connections on exterior exposed and buried fittings. Value for money: This pays for itself just by saving 2 fittings.

Easier to use than other methods.
I had to add stars to "Easy to Install", but there is nothing to install. You just use it. But, it is a vast improvement over two other methods I know of installing or removing SharkBite connections. The first method involves using one's fingertips on a thick, plastic ring placed around the pipe and pressed towards the SharkBite, which can put uncomfortable pressure on the fingertips and palm of the hand. The other uses a squeeze "tong" type of disconnect device with tips placed around the pipe and the SharkBite and is squeezed with the hand. While this is easier than the fingertip plastic rings, the SharkBite can still be resistant to just a hand squeezing the tong - if it is not squeezed hard enough, the SharkBite will not easily release. This device works on the same principle of a pair of pliers. While the working end is placed around the pipe and SharkBite like the tongs, the other end is squeezed like a pair of pliers. The leverage makes the task much easier. In some situations there is still some resistance, similar to the tongs, but it is much easier to get past it than with the tongs. The design of this device allows it to be used on 1/2", 3/4", and 1" SharkBites. Having one tool rather than three others for different sizes is a convenience. I purchased two so I could remove two SharkBites simultaneously, allowing me to remove a UV filtration canister from my water purification system faster than using one tool and going back and forth between the two different fixtures.

Works much better than the horseshoe tool
Nice heavy duty tool that I wish I had got a while ago. I kept telling myself the horseshoe worked fine until they donโt and you have to struggle for a while to remove fittings. These have a lot more torque and work every time if you install push to fit connections or you just need to remove them in the process of repairing plumbing lines you need this tool

Works very well except when it doesn't
The tool easily and effectively works to facilitate releasing tubing from Sharkbite fittings in many, if not most instances. But it's a complete failure in some instances. The tongs are very long to accommodate 1", 3/4" and 1/2" fittings. That makes the tool impossible to use in tight spaces, such as when a fitting is close to a wall. The tool can't be used to release the middle of a 1/2" Tee fitting. The instruction sheet that comes with the tool acknowledges this and suggests using the tool in a fashion that supposedly will work. It kind of, sort of does. But, not very well. It would have been nice if the seller stated these limitations in the listing. If you don't ever need to use the tool in a tight space or on the middle of a 1/2" Tee fitting, this tool is great. But because of the tool's limitations, I returned it in favor of the Sharkbite brand release tool. Not the tongs. Those are terrible. Sharbite has plier-like tool that works great and can be used in fairly tight spaces. The tool is pricey - around twice the cost of the iCrimp tool being reviewed here, but worth it.
