Superior support for several "senior specific" health concerns.
Having read about the Green Pasture company history, which included their production practices, raw materials sourcing and more, I also knew people who used either the fermented Cod liver oil (CLO) or their CLO/butter blend products and each was adamant about its exceptionally high quality and health benefits. When I decided to purchase fermented Cod liver oil from this company, and while looking through their product offerings, I noticed that they also offer fermented Skate liver oil (SLO). As commercially available SLO is both rare and relatively unknown to the public and their CLO products have what some would call โnearly a cult followingโ, I wondered why they choose to sell both. So, as I am highly analytical, I simply had to study and understand the differences between them before I could make my purchase. I have been taking fish oil supplements for decades and nearly all of them caused both heartburn and strong fishy burps, which commonly continued from when it was consumed with breakfast, until after I went to bed. To my great surprise and relief, by day 3 of taking this product, the fishy burps were barely noticeable and lasted for only about ยฝ hour and absolutely no heartburn has been experienced from consuming it. After day 3, the burping also completely stopped. I have very dry eyes and I had needed to use drops, often several times per day to help ease the discomfort. However, after only a couple of days of using this SLO, I rarely need to use eyedrops unless Iโve been outside in the wind or due to something else which can cause them to be extremely dry. The Skate is a cartilaginous fish of the species which are commonly called a โRayโ, rather than being a species of โbonyโ fish like the Cod. As is true of each individual fish and batch of fish processed, the nutritional quantities of each component per serving reasonably and naturally vary per bottle. So, showing transparency and integrity on the part of the company, the bottle reads โthe amounts of these nutrients will varyโ. From what I learned, SLO is commonly higher in fat-soluble vitamins A,D,E and K which are crucial for bodily functions which include vision support, immune response, bone health and even blood clotting. In addition to its EPA and DHA fatty acids which are known for anti-inflammatory properties which support heart and brain health, SLO contains Chondroitin which is well recognized for helping to maintain healthy cartilage and supports joint health and for many individuals, it also lessens joint discomfort. Additionally, SLO contains the antioxidant Squalene, which protects cells from oxidative damage and it also contains Alkylglycerols, which may enhance immune system function. While beneficial for all age groups, the synergistic benefits of consuming fermented SLO notably support crucial functions which often go into notable decline with aging. An easy to understand and informative article which explains differences between Cod and Skate liver oils can be reviewed on a website from โBiology Insightsโ (there are no affiliate links to any products nor brand names mentioned there). Iโve finally found the right product for me and wholeheartedly recommend Green Pastures products to others.

High recommendations!
The flavor isn't bad. I've been called weird before, and that's fine, but I like kipper snacks (herring) and sardines. This stuff tastes even better. Since starting this supplement in Feb, my vitals have improved. BP has lowered into a more normal range and Vitamin D has increased. Pulse is more stable and less subject to fluctuations. I feel like taking this supplement has improved my mood, digestive tract functioning, and increased skin condition. It has a bunch of Vitamin D, even more than the cod liver oil. It also has about 1800ug of Vitamin A per 2mL dose. I called the manufacturer for Vitamin A and asked about taking this while pregnant, very helpful humans answered the phone and provided knowledgeable answers.

Great great product
It's not the first time I bought this item but I thought for once I should leave a review for it so others can get an idea of the benefits. From the second day of use my hair got so very soft it's as if straight out of a hair commercial (I didn't change anything else). Another effect I could notice was regarding dreams .. I always dream a lot and very vividly but when taking the skate liver oil I remember the dreams all day and don't forget them right after I wake up. Also my teeth feel much stronger, just after the first few uses. This is a genuine review I always only state the benefits that I can personally see and feel from using the product. I will be a long term customer for this amazing oil.

Fishy, but not terrible. It's good for you I hear.
I'm a dope and freak out trying to swallow pills hence I bought the liquid oil. The bottle sadly came saturated in fishy stink oil, but after a quick wipe down all is well. Not enough to send back. I stared at the bottle though figuring how I was going to get this stuff down. My bf was not thinking clearly and put it in a large glass of water. Gross. Don't do that. I decided on a shot glass with equal amounts almond milk. I do not like the slime factor, or the obvious fishiness, but otherwise it was fine. It's too soon to tell any benefits, but I'll update in near future.

My fav source of Omega 3
I'll be honest I'm vegan...well, I'm not a true vegan (obviously...) but there are some eras of my diet and supplementation that I can't seem to compromise on when it comes to the restrictions of my diet vs benefits. And FSLO is one of them. The taste is okay. Don't expect this to taste like a delicious treat...it's fermented fish oil. That said, the orange flavor does a lot in making it easier to palatte. And the effects well, do you ever really know fish oil is working? Who's to say, but I definitely feel better when taking it vs not. Maybe that's due to the purported health benefits. I feel like it helps my eyes, they're not dry. Vision seems better but that could be from a number of improvements i've made. Overall I feel better.

Not sure yet
Ok - I eat a packet of Natto almost daily and enjoy it. My favorite sandwich when I was a little girl was liverwurst, lindberger cheese, onion and mustard on rye. My point is that I'm familiar with and enjoy unusual foods and can tolerate pungent odors, but this oil is quite unlike anything I've ever put in my mouth. I either have a bad batch or the taste of this oil is to be expected, but don't believe anyone who says it tastes good! Tolerable after you get used to it maybe, but not good. There's a reason why it's dispensed with a syringe. What I do is first don a swimmer's nose clip, then mix the oil with half a teaspoon of cod liver butter oil, down it then follow with a few sips of milk. The cod liver oil helps mask the smell. Wipe up anything that spills in the sink, then spray the sink with glass cleaner. Any bit of this oil left on a surface with stink up your kitchen. I just started this routine a week ago, so unless there is a noticeable difference in the way I feel, I probably won't repurchase.
