Q-Workshop DICE Macabre (Dice Set)

Loving the theme of these to go with a grave cleric I made for a dnd campaign and this is probably the tenth set of dice I’ve bought from this company after we found the Witcher dice sets for myself, my wife, and as gifts. That said, I can confirm what others have said, these die smell faintly like urine… I’m going to try washing them but hopefully this feedback get back to the manufacturer as this is likely much more of a turnoff to new customers

Absolutely gorgeous dice. However, they have an odd, almost urine-like smell to them that I assume comes from the finish. I can't store them with my others as it just spreads. I keep them exclusively as display pieces in a jar of isopropyl so when I do handle them they don't smell like roadkill.

These look very cool. They are, however, also very stanky. I opened the package and the smell was released. Ugh. I stuck them back into the box and they sit on my shelf. If you buy these, I don't know, put them in the garage for a month or so. Seriously, why the smell?

I love the way these dice look. The detail is amazing and they really look like a bunch of tiny little skulls piled up to make the dice. They are a little on the lighter side though; I prefer the heft of traditional plastic dice. This is a small issue, but it makes the dice feel a bit delicate. The one complaint I do think needs to be addressed though, is that these dice smell like piss. That’s not an exaggeration, I actually thought a disgruntled worker sent me a pee-package. I’ve tried washing with dish soap and with 91% ethyl alcohol. The smell remains and the stank will linger on whatever surface the dice were resting on for minutes after. I’m sure this is either the resin used or the brown wash paint and not actual urine, but something needs to be changed on that. It’s a huge shame, because aside from the odor, I loved these dice. I can’t even put them in my dice bag for fear it will pollute the bag. ;—; Edit: An update. It is the stain that is used to give the dice the aged, authentic bone look. After scrubbing the stain off with a toothbrush, the smell is gone. I looked this up and apparently some paints that aren’t stored correctly can get bacteria in them that create the urine smell. It’s harmless, but off-putting. If you buy, make sure to scrub off the stain if you get one with some funk. The dice are definitely cool and now I can just apply my own stain to them to bring back the cool look.

These are great dice. Lighter than most, due to being Resin and not plastic or metal. I'd highly recommend keeping them separated from metal dice. You will also need to hand paint the numbers and likely varnish the dice, the numbers are unreadable at tabletop level, otherwise.
