I would consider myself a cost-effective audiophile, and therefore consider this a great value. The Rock Shaker 10 provides a lot of bass that you really feel in your chest. If the price was higher ($145 in 2025), then maybe I would consider taking a star for the bass being a bit loose. By the way, studio quality powered subs start at $200, use a smaller woofer and won't pack as much punch, but they will be cleaner, so you have to consider what matters most to you and your budget. It has gain and low pass filter knobs to get the sound just the way you need it in your setup. It can take rca or speaker wire and pass the raw signal to another amp or speaker. In fact, I'm writing this review as I am considering adding another one in the same basement to add another 300W RMS on the opposite wall using the rca outputs to help fill the 30'x30' space. In a smaller room, you wouldn't need another. This sub WILL shake your room and you'll have rattles in the floor above at even setting the gain at 50%. I highly recommend this powered sub! Great frequency range and signal to noise ratio for the price. Units costing 2 times and more don't have the same StoN and range as this does. Makes it an excellent until for our Harmony Kardon receiver to handle HK's wide frequency range. Thought it was to good to be true. Came through and delivered crisp, clear, bass that you can feel and hear for the full subwoofer experience. Don't believe there's a better unit out there even for 2 to 3 times it's price

I bought this for my 83 year old neighbor. He said he wanted the bass to sound like it does in his car. This adds enough extra bass without being too crazy. We live in an apartment complex. I live above him and it hasn’t disturbed me. He blasts his 45rpm records too. It’s easy setup. Easy control. Adjustable crossover is a plus. Volume control right on the unit is a plus. Do not expect earth shattering bass. It’s a 6.5” woofer. It will add extra punch and boom. I would recommend this product.
