Awesome MS Office monitor
I know most people measure a monitor's performance by running games on it. However, for me, 99% of the time I'm running MS Office software on it, as it is my home office work machine. I've had it for about 15 months and it has been an outstanding display for what I do. Using Excel, a new sheet that includes the full ribbon at the top will display (at 80% scale, my standard setting) 56 rows at 24 pixels height and 39 columns at 80 pixels wide (default settings). For many users and many applications that would be overkill, but I frequently construct or build very large spreadsheet models and the more columns and rows I can see with my nearly 60-year old eyes, the better. I have hooked up a second monitor, a 24" 1080p Dell that has also served me well for more than two years. They are in "extended" mode and physically touching each other but because of the resolution differences I have not tried to display one spreadsheet that spans both of them. I simply run a separate program (Word, Outlook or Chrome) on the Dell. Were that to become a real necessity, substituting a second ViewSonic VX27780SMHD for the Dell would be awesome. At the current price point, however, I can manage with my current setup. Text is sharp and colors are rich. I work in a windowless home office so I haven't had any glare issues. I use the stand, which allows for a nice range of height and angle (up/down and side-to-side) adjustments. Two things to note. First, the Viewsonic is driven by both my PC and my FiOS box (gotta have my TV). Interestingly, the default screen display is my FiOS box, and I have to go into the menu to select the Viewsonic (which is attached via DisplayPort). I'm sure there is a fix for this but I haven't researched it - if anyone knows how to fix it so that the FiOS box is the secondary signal, I'd appreciate it. The other thing is that, while it is technically a bezel-less frame (it measures 1mm), my setup has a non-display area of 1/4 inch on the sides and top (1/8 inch on the bottom, go figure). It's not an issue for me and it may be adjustable and I just haven't figured out how to do it. However, for the purists out there, I haven't found that the screen really goes edge to edge. Again, it would only come into play if you were putting two or more of these side-by-side; otherwise, who cares. I will say, however, that this 27" ViewSonic is only 2 inches wider than my 24" Dell (which has a 3/4" bezel all around). If desk space is at a premium, that is a nice benefit. For the price, it may be the case as I'm writing this that there are 4K monitors that can compete with this, certainly if used for business software purposes where frame rates are not going to be an issue. As for gaming, which I've done precious little of, the trade-off between resolution and frame rates may keep this as a leading choice, as 1440p is a big step up from 1080p. I also do not do any video/photo work, so I cannot comment on its performance in that space. In any event, I highly recommend this unit to anyone seeking a quality display at a 27" diagonal size that takes up as little footprint as possible.

Amazing Monitor
This monitor is amazing for the price. It's cheaper than other 1440p monitors, but quality isn't sacrificed like most other cheaper monitors you see on the market. To start, the picture quality is amazing. There were no dead/ frozen pixels, screen burn in, or ghosting, so that's something you shouldn't worry about. The 2560x1440 resolution is a great compromise between 1080p and 4k for gaming. You don't lose many FPS from bumping up the resolution (while I don't know the exact number of FPS lost, I would say maybe around 2-5 FPS). Coming from a Sceptre 1080p monitor, I can say that this monitors design quality is great. The monitor is plastic, but doesn't feel cheap. The stand is adjustable in two ways- height and tilt. The stand is easily adjusted and doesn't require much force to adjust. The bezels are amazingly small- something that is relatively uncommon among PC monitors. The only problem that I have come across isn't a problem with the monitor, but with windows. Windows automatically scales the screen to 125% due to the high resolution, but certain UI elements can appear blurry because of the scaling. Again, this isn't a problem with the monitor (this happens on almost every monitor from every brand that has a resolution above 1080p). The only way to fix it is to put the scaling down to 100%. The scaling isn't a reason to stray away from this monitor whatsoever. This is an amazing monitor for such a low price, and if you are looking for a nice hi-resolution monitor for gaming or just regular use, you should buy this one.

Great monitor for gaming and here's why..
I purchased the 27" 1440p model. Let me clear up a few things for everyone about this monitor. The stand is not nearly as bad as people are reporting. If you have a wobbly desk, yes you will get a shaky monitor, but if your desk is fine then your monitor will be fine as well. You can adjust the monitors viewing angles but not the height, not a big a deal for me. No light bleeding on my panel, no dead pixels, no ghosting. I have nothing but smooth colorful game-play. Viewing angles are much much better than a regular TN panel. No you do not have to do any "tricks" or "research" to get this monitor to run in the right resolution. I ordered a display port with my monitor and it picked up the right resolution and the colors looked great right out of the box. The only setting I changed on the monitor was "normal response time" to "ultra fast response time". There are plenty of awesome settings to fool around with on this monitor. You can make the blacks, very black, you can suck the blue light out of your monitor to make the whites really pop. Supports Full RGB and Limited RGB. If your gaming and having trouble getting your games to run at those silky smooth 60 frames per second, turning the monitor down to 1920x1080 resolution does not "make it look blurry" you cannot "see the pixels" and the text is not hard to read, your eyes just simply adjusted to the high resolution, so going back to 1080 is making the difference between the two resolutions more evident. Games look great at 1080p on this monitor. I'm running a GTX 1080, so when games are more demanding, I just turn SMAA down but keep the FXAA on, but if all else fails, turning the resolution down still looks great and I have no problems. Remember, this is a high resolution monitor so most of those jagged lines are gone without having the extra effects turned on. Overall this is a great monitor and exceeded my expectations which were actually quite high. Great gaming monitor, great panel, no bleeding, no dead pixels, no ghosting. If you are looking for a big IPS panel with a higher resolution, definitely consider this as an option. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I might be a little old for 2K at 24”
First off, this is a nicely made monitor by ViewSonic. Picture quality at native resolution is great. No strange color banding like I had in the first two D3ll monitors I purchased. There IS some backlight bleed, but nothing too terrible for an IPS monitor. Unfortunately if relegated this to a spare, and I picked up a 2K 27” instead. Not because there’s anything wrong with it, but my eyes just aren’t what they used to be an I was constantly squinting, or having to increase the text size in apps, etc. 24” might be a little small for 2K unless you have perfect eyes. The 27” feels much nicer, and I feel like I strain a lot less than when I was looking at the 24”. Again, this isn’t a knock on this monitor at all— just something to consider!

Excellent value and quality.
I upgraded from a pair of 1080p monitors to 2 of these in 24". The silver bezels are thin and attractive, the image and color quality is great. The big plus is the pixel density of this resolution at 24 inches, which makes for a really sharp and clean display. Fonts display smoothly and nicely where Windows used to make things look clunky. I'm mostly using these for work and they allow for better use of screen space. From spreadsheets to web apps, things are easier to read while showing more at one time. This is a huge quality of life improvement. I do some gaming, but nothing like competitive or "twitch" based FPS. With a 1660ti GPU, I've played some WoW and Guild Wars 2 at 1440 and max quality with frame rates holding steady at 60fps, which is good enough for me and all these monitors will provide. The games look fantastic. Because these monitors are 60hz, I rated 3 stars for gaming because I think most folks want higher frame rates, but if you're into more casual titles consider this a 5, especially when considering cost. My only gripe would be the menu system. 6 buttons on the bottom edge of each monitor and still the navigation of the menus is horribly counter-intuitive and confusing. Thankfully, I tend to get a monitor set up once and never touch those menus again. Ultimately, the job got done despite the lack of instructions or user-friendliness. Overall, I'm stoked about the bargain these turned out to be.

First one didn't work, its replacement is fantastic!
I got the first of these and had to return it because the moment I turned it on, the splash screen was distorted and clearly not of the promised resolution. When windows opened, and it was the same thing. Since I ordered a replacement monitor instead of a refund, I was not charged shipping (thank you Amazon!). The new monitor works perfectly at full 2560x1440 resolution over HDMI. It is being driven by a laptop with a 7000 series i7 processor. I use the 13.3 inch 1920x1080 2 in 1 laptop in "stand mode" with this monitor above it, so now I have a two screen set up that takes up no more desktop space than would be taken up by this monitor alone. Happily, the laptop does not seem to have any difficulty driving both screens at full resolution. This is an IPS screen, good angles, colors are bold and correct, the higher resolution on a 24-inch screen is exceptional. I have always liked ViewSonic products because they are superior and at a reasonable price point. You can buy with confidence because if one doesn’t work, and you order a replacement instead of a refund, you will even save yourself return shipping!

Image quality fine; speakers weak; stand poor
I bought this monitor primarily to be able to do some office work at home, and secondarily to view photos and videos. The image quality is sharp and clear and colors look decent, using a displayport connection from my Dell laptop. But the cheap stand included offers almost no adjustment in any direction, including backwards tilt. So I can't get a comfortable viewing angle on a small desk unless I were to put something under the stand to bring it up to eye level, which would be a hassle. And the included speakers are just barely functional when turned all the way up to maximum, which to me means they aren't really adequate. (Yes, separate speakers would solve that, but if there are going to be speakers they should at least sound as good as my cell phone.) So the monitor itself is fine, and the price of $192 that I paid was fair, but the lack of stand adjustment and poor speakers means I will probably return this for something better. If you're on a tight budget, don't mind the stand, and don't care about the speakers, this is worth considering...otherwise look elsewhere.

Beautiful 27" monitor
I guess this is the first review for this beautiful monitor, as it was released recently (VX2778 27" 256x1440). I'm not a gamer, but I'm using it for 3D apps at 60Hz. I'm comparing it to an old DELL 2407 (24" 1920x1200). -------- Pros: + Bright, great contrast, beautiful colors (haven't measured the accuracy), crisp. + 27" at WQHD gives more real estate compared to 1920x1200 without shrinking the fonts too much. DPI is 109 compared to 94. + Small bezel. Although it's advertised as "Frameless Bezel" it does have a bezel. There is a 1mm metallic bezel around the screen, and it's the only one you see when the monitor is off. When it's turned on, there is an additional 6mm black frame around the image, so the total frame is about 7mm. Still quite small. Bottom frame is about 1.8cm. + Real buttons, easy to navigate menu, many options to choose from: game mode, web mode, etc. + No dead / bright pixel. I didn't notice any IPS light bleed. + The on/off light can be turned off (menu option). + No problem going to sleep. + It has a vesa connector. + My old DELL had shadows issues (with anything moving), the Viewsonic has no noticeable shadows (but then, I'm not a gamer). Everything is smooth. -------- Cons: - Comes with just one cable: display port - mini display port. - No DVI input (all new graphic cards have a display port, so if you have a new hardware it's ok): it has a display port, mini display port and HDMI. - I had lots of problems connecting it. Maybe it was because I connected it through HDMI. The native resolution was not recognized. The maximum was just 2048x1152, and it was blurry. I updated both the monitor driver (from Viewsonic's site) and graphic (from nvidia), but it didn't work. I had to go in the nvidia control panel, and add a custom resolution of 2560x1440. Then it worked fine. - Stand is nice and good, but is a little wobbly, less sturdy than my old DELL (that was also much heavier). - Height not adjustable. Bottom of the screen is at 9.5 cm from the desk. Speakers are a good idea, but the sound is just ok. ---- Edit: there is one stuck pixel on a corner. Not that visible... Oh well.

Excellent Display For Mac
When my 24" Apple LED Cinema Display faded to black finally, it was either repair it or replace it. It was paired up to my 2009 Mac Pro Tower and was a great match until it no longer was working. After much troubleshooting, I was in that valley of decision. This Viewsonic VX2478 had been on my watch list for about a year, and my 4 kids all pitched in to buy it as a B-Day/Father's Day gift (instead of a past "coupon" for new recliner and a pair of overalls). Even before I ordered I contacted Viewsonic's Customer Service to confirm if the miniDisplay to Display Port cable was actually included. They responded very quickly, and were very friendly, and even followed up a couple of times before I ordered and after it arrived. Once ordered it arrived quickly all the way to the Yukon Territory, Canada, in fine shape. Mine DID come with that needed cable for my Mac Pro Tower. Assembly was easy and it was all plug-n-play for me. The picture quality rivals or exceeds that of my Apple Cinema Display. This Viewsonic VX2478 also has many of the very same specifications as my 27" Apply Thunderbolt Display as well, which does not work with my Mac Pro Tower. The Viewsonic rivals that as well, and is much, much lighter than both the Apple Displays. Overall i am well pleased with this monitor, and with the very timely and friendly customer support directly from Viewsonic. I may get a second one some day and have dual displays. I find it very easy on the eyes...and my eyes are very sensitive as I have Retina damages from Neuropathy right in my Retinas. The Apple Displays do not hurt my eyes at all, and neither does this Viewsonic. It is a great choice to pair up with a Mac in both looks, function, and quality. Very bright, crisp, and clear.
