Good enough quality but don't expect an Exos drive in the casing
It is one of the most effective external storage solutions with definite value for money per terrabyte. But please note these are not your EXOS server or even a desktop drive. their purpose is storage and backup. Do not try to use them as external active HDD. They are designed for linear writing and not random read/write of data. Do the latter long enough and you might break down the drive. However, for storage and write once large data for backup purpose, this device is as good as you can get for this price range. The data recovery warranty I haven't used, but I guess that will be a good thing too.

Drive has changed, but still good
This is my second unit. It cost me about 15% more than the previous one, which I bought in the beginning of 2021. That's quite a bit of escalation. Seagate no longer puts in the excellent Enterprise Helium-filled drives in these, instead it looks like a standard CMR 4-platter (or 5) design.I get about 260MB/s write speed at the beginning of the drive, and for mixed small files it's still stays above 40MB/s (which is actually excellent). When writing very small files (<2kB) such as scripts and blank texture files it slows down to 10MB/s, which is acceptable. While I haven't run a full speed test, it should still have the same speed as its predecessor. It is very noisy (large drives tend to be), so don't plan on using it next to your desktop. For archiving, this is the best you can get. Windows power-saving works fine, for Linux you need hd-idle package or other method to spin down. It's a heavy drive but very well-ventilated. Unlike the coffin-like Expansion series, there is an almost open top grate that allows heat to move quickly, another indication of a lower quality drive inside. Seagate might have improved, I have quite a few of their external units and the flaky reliability of the last few decades has not resurfaced.

For TERA-Capacity with 'EX0S' Drive.
Great PRODUCT. Hard Drive (STKP16000402) 'EX0S Drive' inside.TIP: Buy from 'Appario Retail Private Ltd' they ask for a reasonable price.16 TB ('terabyte in decimal' NOT 'tebibyte in Binary') in Decimal Bit-unit so about 14,900 GB('gibibyte in Binary' NOT 'gigabyte in decimal') in Binary Bits.Difference:1 TB(terabyte) = 1000 GB(gigabyte) {in decimal}1 TB(tebibyte) = 1024 GB(gibibyte) {in Binary}Therefore,1 TB(terabyte in decimal) = 931 GB(gibibyte in Binary) approx.That's why when we buy microSD Card it shows less in mobile device than what was branded for.Manufacturers use/brand in 'decimal' where as we all know digital computers are 'binary' at their core + the OS takes a bunch more.[This may me confusing cause mostly we say "tebibyte as terabyte" & "gibibyte as gigabyte"]{Linked Website for better understanding- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabyte}

Good Option
Points to note:1.) This is not a portable drive, meaning it have an external power adapter which needs to be connected to a power socket. Then only it can be used.2.) It is a bit big and slightly heavy.3.) Good option to backup your files as it has 16TB of space.4.) I use it with my Asus Router as Cloud Storage (access from anywhere) with AiCloud feature. So, good alternative for Google Drive and Microsoft Onedrive.

Poor and Slow Warranty Service
The drive crashed in less than 1 month of usage. I don't know if it is poor quality or plain bad luck! The Seagate service was quick to respond and assured quick pickup and replacement. However, subsequently I was asked to agree to some terms which said a replacement time of 60-90 days. The data recovery service is not actually free as they claim the drive will be exported for recovery and the customer will have to pay some custom charges on re-import of the same. The pickup kept getting postponed so I had to get the disk delivered to their specified pickup point. I was instructed to pack a disk in a certain manner but they opened it all up at the pickup point for inspection!!! What a waste. No update yet on the replacement disk or data recovery. Still awaiting.

Extra Space - Perfect for backups
After noticing that the drives that had failed me most often were by other manufacturers, I have relied on Seagate devices to store my precious data. So, when I needed more space to back up my primary drives, getting a new Seagate external memory was a no brainer. At 16T it easily backs up the primary drives for photos and data with lots of room to grow. I've never had to use their "data recovery" but always nice to know it is there if needed. Performance has been as expected from USB 3.0 speed. The only slowdown appears to be the need to transfer the older data via my computer. For power, it came with several additional places that can be used to fit power outlets in other countries. - unnecessary for me, and I really don't plan to travel with this drive. Performance has been very quiet, being literally an arm's length away, I don't hear it operating. Even while writing, data retrieval has been quick and efficient.Only real negative was that I was expecting far quicker delivery being a Prime member as well as this being a Prime day purchase. Instead, I got several email messages saying the dates had been delayed, advanced, moved back again, and even when finally arrived came the next day. Fortunately, I wasn't in a hurry - this time.Overall, price is good. (edited - Good Grief! has the price increased since I was looking at this both before and after purchase, that deal I took advantage of is now long gone.) Seagate has a proven track record for reliability, and I expect to be using it for a very long time.

Great Storage Drive
After 3 weeks I am very happy with the 16 TB drive. I am storing GoPro videos of my bike rides. Transfer speeds are fast, though I wouldn't use it as my operating drive. The drive is quiet when reading or writing. It does not seem to make the buzzing/clicking noise that my similar WD drive makes periodically. My only objection is the wasteful inclusion of power adapters for every country in the world. Do we really need to waste this much plastic and metal, and send this much material to the landfill, just because somebody doesn't want to maintain more than one stock number? At the very least, North America is big enough to have it's own stock number, with just one plug included.

A bit too noisy but it does its job
I needed a larger backup drive for my home music studio computer. I previously used the Seagate Backup Plus Hub for years but now needed something larger. The previous Seagate backup drive was very quiet so there was no issue when microphones were hot. This new drive makes a lot of thumpy sounds and they're loud enough to be picked on hot mics. The workaround is simple enough... I turn off the backup program when recording, but the extra steps of turning it off and then back on again are a bit of a pain in the ass. On the other hand, 16tb for just over $200 is a good bargain.

A Perfect Off-Site Backup Solution
In the past, I've experienced SIGNIFICANT issues with Western Digital hard drives from their My Passport lines. It got to the point where WD set up my account as a reseller since I had so many warranty claims over such a small period of time. Dealing with their customer service team for replacements was long and frustrating. There was even an instance where they claimed one of the hard drives I purchased from Amazon was a counterfeit. Due to these experiences, I have been loyal to Seagate ever since. It's a leading storage brand and I will never go back to WD drives. Seagate drives have never let me down, and I've owned about 30-40 of them over the past 4-5 years or so.I have been using this Seagate hard drive for a while and it works perfectly for my offline/off-site backup solution. I love that it is plug-and-play and very easy to use for storing videos, photos, and music. This drive has met my requirements by efficiently transferring files and serving my data storage requirements.

Does the Job!
I use this for backing up multiple 1TB and 2TB Solid State Drives on my music computer. So far everything is working as it should. Would purchase again if I need more storage.
