My sweet dog has serious environmental allergies, because of this we’ve put her on a strict homemade diet that requires some extra supplements to ensure she is feeling her best and prolonging her health. Our vet recommended adding krill to her diet for the omega 3s needed to improve her skin and coat, and support eye and brain development. We switched from krill oil capsules to the loose powder form and couldn’t be happier with the switch, it’s easier to measure, less cleanup and she loves it. It stinks too high heaven but that honestly isn’t much of an issue considering how it isn’t in the bowl long enough to actually stink up the kitchen. We are on the third repurchase of this product and will continue to buy it for the quality, price point and ease of use.

My 13lbs miniature long-coat dachshund has skin issues so I have been sprinkling this over his meal for the past year and he likes the taste. (He knows it’s food time when this comes out.) It has a very strong smell so I try to twist the inner plastic bag to close it, before putting the lid back on. And I put the container in a ziplock bag. Also keep it in the fridge to keep it fresh and less smelly. Before I started doing that it started smelling in my pantry. As for the effect, it’s hard to tell but I do think his fur is getting fuller. And he hasn’t had IVDD ever since we started giving him this. I do prefer this over fish oil because of the least mercury contamination from krill being at the bottom of the food chain. Never had leakage issue. Overall I do recommend this to friends and families!

Peeeewwww. I know its krill but I can't get my pet to eat it and it smells awful to store. I'm going to feed mackerel in brine instead. The actual fish is easy to freeze in bitesize portions and I get the kind in Brine! That is the safest. That is working better to buy a can of mackerel in brine, opening it, portion it out, into small containers or bags freezing it and serving with a little warm water. Mackerel has 4500-4900 mg per 100 gram serving.

Firstly, the DHA/EPA levels are nowhere to be found on the label or packaging. But they are given on the Herbsmith website. The levels are very, very low compared to a high-quality fish oil like Nordic Naturals Omega3 Pet (which I use and recommend). Some of the cats love the taste, others do not. So it can be useful for medicating a sick animal. Please know that cats with kidney failure or other chronic illnesses need considerably higher EPA and DHA levels. You can find this information from a reputable veterinarian online. UPDATE: I am more optimistic about this product, not because it has adequate amounts of EPA or DHA, because it does not. But because the cats love it so much, that I can sprinkle a little bit on the food to mask the necessary fish oil. So it works wonders in that sense. Please note, if you have a cat with CRF, do not give him krill or any other fish, as they are very high in phosphorus.
