Core 2 Quad Q9550 Processor 2.83GHz 1333MHz 12MB LGA 775 CPU, OEM

I wanted to write a review because I know I always feel a little nervous buying these types of things online; hopefully my review will help give others confidence when making a decision. In short, the chip arrived in a timely manner and worked without a problem. At this point I've only had the chip in the computer for one day, but it's doing exactly what I hoped it would.

Ordered this as "used" from "Entermediaplus" March 17 2016. Received it promptly on the 21st. Packaging was minimal. Wrapped in bubble wrap in a large envelope. Good enough, I suppose. Anti-static bag would have made me feel better but it survived the trip. I installed it into a Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP @n. BIOS version 1415. Replacing a oc'd Q6600. Why? Better bus speed and lower power consumption and less heat. Initially didn't POST. Was getting worried. Cleared BIOS by jumper and it POSTED. Checked the BIOS and looks fine. I have been running the system 24/7 ever since.

If you are looking to upgrade your socket 775 cpu from and older generation 775 quad core or dual core cpu and dont want to spend money on the new products look no further! This cpu performs very well, it runs very cool with my motherboard, in the low to mid 30 degrees C with an aftermaket heatsink and TIM. Its does well with games. But cannot run battlefield 4 very well in ultra settings. Now this chip is great for those that want to go the cheaper route without spending an arm and a leg on the new generation products. Do not compare this processor with an i5 or an i7 because they are completely different, those processors will out perform hands down. But if you dont need the best and want a better then what you have with the old this is a great upgrade.

Spooky the thing came in with what looks like a Quality control STICKER OVER the chips on the backside of the CPU so, I spend a half hour getting that off the nooks &crannies of all those tiny procAmps and resistors, I have to think Heat and humidity could mess with the componets, as well as dust eventually sticking to the sticky side of the inspection sticker and also changing values between conductors, which I have seen in the past , just blowing dust off those chip legs can help a computer work better or stop locking up. MOST folks would be smart enough to peel off the sticker if placed on the top side to put the heat sink paste on. This processor so far seems faster even with it showing slower clock speed , since it has a 12MB buss instead of a 6MB buss of the CPU I swapped out. SO , no harm done as yet.

All motherboards are different, especially the older ones. And I have an older Maximus Formula that was just shy of a trick to update. So just make sure you do if you need to before installing the chip. At any rate, she sure runs smooth and perky with 4 on the floor just using the stock cooler is good enough without overclock. You can't beat a used CPU as usually are the last to fail and of good value. Was well worth the money going up from e8400. And the company was also great & reputable that sent it JSM, was only a few days!

I bought this CPU for my old HP 4600 workstation to put a little zing back in. But it was very little zing. I kind of knew that before purchasing and it is no fault of the seller. The seller was great and delivered the CPU in a timely manner. This CPU was very easy to install and it works fine. Just not a big increase in speed.

Does a good deal as well as noticing the difference on performance. My PC is 8yrs old and it was a great boost to say the least. I can play today games at almost flawlessly. I know this processor is temporary, till I get an updated PC soon with today's high end processors for this year games. Neither to say, this is a good processor for a low budget price.

worked fine for a couple months, then my computer would stop working after a short wail and I would have to shut it down using the power button and hold it in. I still had the duo core that I had replaced with this one put it back in and computer is running fine again. Will not buy CPUs from here again.

It's exactly as advertised. If you are looking to buy new or prefer to buy through Amazon the price is competitive, but if you are willing to buy used with long shipment times there are more competitive options.
